John, in the garment industry, there are a lot of arguments between DTG and Silk Screening about which is better, which last longer etc. What I see in the shops is BOTH technologies being utilized in order to take advantage of each technology's strengths and STILL provide a quality product at an affordable price. There will always be technology Bigots, but the smart shops are those that learn and feel comfortable in both arenas. In Short, no job goes unfilled.

I’m a designer/ color separator ! Screen Printing will always be better than DTG! You can also get the feel of water based inks when using plastisol inks! Just burn images and base plate on high mesh screens. So you get feel of water base ink but pop of plastisol ink.
@garycrumrine95385 жыл бұрын
John, the one thing I came away with is that a person doesn't really need to print their own, you do your set ups and do your color separations and find a reputable printer to actually do the printing, saving the purchase costs of all the equipment, training of personnel etc. This saves costs up front. You can always work yourself up to doing your printing in house, but it isn't necessary starting out.

This was a great 2-part series. It went into a deeper but quick way to show the layout for research process and design process. I am not the greatest at designing even though, I used to draw back in the day. I would probably outsource it to help with the concepts and everything. But I love the collection part of the video and how he kept it simple but added changes to it and keep everything unified.

I’m starting my business with a DTG machine I picked up for dirt cheap. We’re also gonna get into sublimation and then when the name gets out there and we get busy then I’m gonna start doing screen printing. I honestly wanted to start with screen printing but after doing a lot of research it’s not worth it, starting out as a small business. But I want to pick up doing companies shirts like employees or team shirts, stuff like that. And then use the sub,imitation and DTG for custom shirts like less than 10 or less shirts. That kind of thing but for now the DTG will get us rolling

it's 9 months later, but if you haven't already started I'll give you the run down. it's a challenge, but it's doable. 1st: you have to design the tee and ensure that it is wearable for the way that you intend it. so, if you don't have a design background you need to locate a fashion designer. during this process you will need to know what materials you will want for tee. this leads to number 2: you have to source raw materials manufacturers to get the fabric you and the designer settled on. you can go to Joanns store to get an idea of what you are looking for. 3: have that same designer stitch up a few tees to see if it's doable. 4: locate a clothes manufacturer that can sew your shirts for you. you will also need a company name. logo. copyright of your shirt if it is in fact a new design. good luck.

@johnxsantos5 жыл бұрын
What’s your questions?
@Vagabondgone4 жыл бұрын
Trademarking is quite expensive. Firts of course you need to check that the name and your logo is not taken. You should hire a person who is an expert in trademarks. It costs around 400-600 to get your brand trademarked and you have to to do it for every country you want to be working in. I’d say that you need atleast three countries secured. Your home country where you want to operate, another country where you want to do business in and also the country where your goods are made

I've seen people use those shirts for tshirt giveaways or put them in gift packages. Don't ever use those irregular tshirts and try to pass them off as a good tshirt to represent your brand. You can tell a file is vector format if it has been created in a Vector Software such as Adobe Illustrator, AND the file has been saved as either an .eps, .ai, and sometimes even .pdf - but I would highly recommend steering clear of PDF because they act as a container for other files like JPG and PNG - where EPS and AI files are *strictly* vector-based. @erickflores44665 жыл бұрын
Title is so wrong....Screen Printing will always be better and more durable than DTG there is no comparison. Now where this 2 techniques are good at is depending how many shirts and how many colors the design will have. DTG is more profit by offering short runs, even one single t shirt will make you profits, if you are like in a mall or a kiosk and offer instant print designs you will rock with this system, there is no other method that prints good, lots of colors and in five to 7 minutes.....but if you need quantity and quality screen printing is your best option, they will charge by color or frame but in quantities of 50 to thousands it is much affordable, washability will be so much better and faster. So quantity and time is the answer to what is better between this 2 methods

@printgod46635 жыл бұрын
I would have to agree with her. From start to finish, pretreatment to drying the print on the heat press takes time. You can rush if your want to but if your chasing quality take your time. Hour sounds pretty accurate.

@@printgod4663 Have you seen a pre treat machine? it releases a controlled amount of spray. MAYBE 5 seconds tops? then 30 seconds to dry. then 3 to 3.5 minutes to print a full color mens dark shirt another minute and half to dry it? call it 2 minutes to dry with a quick hover before i clamp it down? if the printer is printing a shirt, the next shirt can be queued up being pretreated and the shirt prior should be getting it's print cured in the heat press. good order of operations can increase productivity in most work flows but 10 shirts/hour sounds like heat transfer vinyl production speed

If you are someone who does not have a base line of customers and you are just beginning to start than a DTG is not for you. DTGS are for people who already have a lot of orders coming in. If you dont have a lot of orders buying a DTG will proof expensive.
