I'm on vaca with my wife and dogs in P-Town on the Cape. I've followed you for years...been a great ride. Watched this in Truro last week and it's been an (positive) earworm for the last week...lol. I want to thank you for being such an Ambassador for the Uke...the instrument of peace, harmony and....wait for it.....Zen. Anyway, I'm headed for Patreon to chip-in and support a major influence in my life....again, thanks...

A truly cool presentation of this classic tune. I keep an instrument by my chair at all times, and pick it up just to noodle and relax. I try to throw in new tips and things as I go. I was a guitar player for 50+ years before discovering the Ukulele, and it turns out the day I noticed a GCEA uke was like a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret and only using the first 4 strings and the 4th string raised an octave, suddenly the uke was my friend. The high G string still kind of annoys me, but I am getting there! But I digress...Back to my reason for commenting: I like your way of presenting very much. It is comfortable and informative.
@UkuleleZen3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Bob. One of my favorite tunes for sure...hey, you can always swap the high G for a Low G string (they sell low G sets...low G strings are either would w metal coating or unwound). Enjoy! Hope you'll subscribe for more ukulele content like this 🎶🤙😃

Great VLOG, Stu. I'll second the request for more chord progressions. I'm a newbie so they're hard for me, but what a satisfying way to learn new chords. Also, thanks for placing so much emphasis on relaxation. It was lost on me for a while but then I listened to your vlog on barre chords...over and over and over again. I spent at least an hour playing barre chords, mostly without pressing and then while pressing briefly. I realized that this practice got me to the point where it had become harder to touch all the strings without getting them to ring. I realized that pressing too hard actually harmed the process rather than helped. Again, thanks so much. Now a Patreon subscriber.

All the best & happy playing to you Larry, Stu

I enjoyed this Stu and the way you explained it. I'm a big fan of both the accending Cadences "Raining in my Heart" "Love me tender" and decending "Blue Skies" "Michelle" and of course "Autumn Leaves". Expertly presented with the Pivot finger technique.

I find Em the hardest chord to play, always has me searching where to put fingers, just doesn’t come naturally at all. Is that chord progression used in some of the quieter parts of the Wall by Pink Floyd
@UkuleleZen4 жыл бұрын
I hope I described Em well enough...I see it as a staircase. And yes you're right - the song "Nobody Home" begins with this same progression. I will make some Floyd videos someday...that tune would be a good one to do!

Stu, Ihate to be a dummy but what does it mean when you say, "Mistakes are a best friend in disguise." Uh...
@UkuleleZen4 жыл бұрын
Well, let's say I'm playing this tune & I go and "biff it" on a certain chord. If I stop, recognize & embrace the mistake I may see the hidden gift in it...maybe I didn't prepare the chord by having my fingers close enough to the neck...maybe I started on the wring fret, etc etc...whatever the "mistake" is - if I "welcome it in for tea", it my let me know the secret I've been missing. be like a good friend saying: "Echem, Stu...Ummm, just wanted to let you know that that's. supposed to be played like this... ____". True, they feel like wild & ransacking vandals at times, but mistakes are our best friends if we invite them in & see what they have to teach us. It's all in our perception, really...More on this in the future, my NON-ransacking friend Mia :-)
