The Wild Mersey MTB Trails is a $4.5m project slated to offer 100+km of singletrack catered riders at every level, with its proximity to the Spirit of Tasmania it seems the Wild Mersey trail network is on track to be the destination to put on the list once us mainlanders are allowed back on the Apple-Isle.
Many trail projects we've heard about in Tasmania talk about being 'the next Derby,' but everyone involved in the Wild Mersey Project is adamant they have no interest in doing what has already been done.

I've done them all over the last few months - the combined trails are referred to as Wild Mersey (ridewildmersey.com.au/) and they're are 3 lots all with in 15-20 min drive of each other. Plus they've recently connected them all so you can ride all the way through. Latrobe is awesome - great town (lnice pubs and great nick nack shops) and the trails are 5 mins from the town. Lots of awesome Green trails, a few blues and one Black (No Mersey!). Right by the Mersey River so have a dip afterwards. Then you've got the town of Railton. You can either drive or an awesome ride through the forsest and over a mountain that takes around 60-90 minutes is the 'Railton Express' which takes you to Railton. Here there are a couple of trails (Green Hornet, Teleport) and a pump track. Pub and couple of shops here (smaller than Latrobe). Then you can ride the 'Railton Rattler' trail all the way through to Sheffield. It's a wide, gravel trail that takes about 40-50 minutes. Once at Sheffield hit the trails of which there are about 5 as I write this but will be expanding heaps in the coming months by the look of the work they're putting in! sheffield is great, pubs and few shops. There is a shuttle service from town to town if you don't want to ride back. Also another great Tassie trail that doesn't get spoken about enough is the one at Zeehan. Enjoy!
