The main basement could have such amenities as a mini bowling alley, indoor putting green or golf simulator, card area, and a few other things. The subbasement could have a laser tag course, vr space and wine room. That's what I'd do with the basement levels.

The 2 basement in Ohio are called a 5 level homes very popular in Columbus, Ohio area. However, the 4th level( First basement) is always finished. 5 level usually is not. Sometime builders will put a full bathroom and E- G Windows to make a legal bedroom.

Oh, I agree. It’s a relatively new phenomenon. Our new home in Seattle had them and I hated them . Now we live in a twenty year old home and everything is wood. The only downside to wood is the irreversible damage it takes. I had to paint the pantry shelves here to cover spill marks from the last owner.

No, it's smart. I would rather pay for a new home with those then have them mark up the price with custom closets where they put in shelves that don't work for my own belongings. Serious? This is an investment home. You live in it and then downsize to a more appropriate home when you age. As for guests...you help them and bring them things if they need it. It's also why there's usually a guest room on a main floor. If my grandma needs a drink, I get it for her. This is a home, not a commercial space.

L Cole I’m in OK. You won’t find many basements in TX or OK. Soils & rock base are not conducive to spending $$$ to build basements. We also do not have the Winters that you have in IL. Most homeowners will be looking for retreat from Summer heat!?! Either landscaping, decks, water features of some sort, or just a room that is adjacent to the outdoors with access to AC 😎when it is 100degrees in the shade with 100% humidity🤠
