judging based on only the first 2 episodes: Removing Kirito entirely from the story has been the best thing they could have done as the new protagonist is the exact kind of character he would forcefully overshadow and ruin. Not really, at least not so far. As of yet no events from _Part V_ have had an impact on the plot (you see some of the characters on Ami's list of known Lupin associates, but that's it) and tonally they've been pretty different too. Jacket colour is the same, which does imply a connection but also may not (depending on the series' direction). The red jacket was not only used in _Part II_ but also most of the TV movies over the years. I know that they're not directly comparable, but it's still worth pointing out. Really I just want more people to give Lupin III a chance; it's a series that I'm sure many people have at least heard of but isn't super popular in the west (outside of Italy) partly because of its long legacy and not knowing where to start. So I thought it's worth highlighting a good jumping on point (like Geoff did with LotGH in this video) 😎.

I'm fairly new in the Lupin III world, but everything you need to know is that we have five main characters, four thugs (Lupin, world's most wanted thief, king of tricks and a gentleman; Jigen, exceptional marksman, Lupin's wingman and voice of conscience; Goemon, a classic and stoic samurai in the modern world and Fujiko, a texbook femme fatale and Lupin's main weakness) and a policeman (unstoppable Inspector Zenigata from Interpol who wants to bring Lupin to justice), and to each Lupin III's series there is an independent adventure, in which Lupin and his gang do thief stuff and Zenigata pursues them. The formula is simple and 95% of all series are totally EPISODIC, but the franchise's strength and long history lie basically on its characters and creativity. Lupin isn't complex, but it knows well what it wants to do and does so magnificently.

Now, what really has drawn me to such a titanic franchise is how stylish, historically important, fun and free form Lupin III is. It's +50 years old, it has passed through a lot of hands, Hayao Miyazaki's included, so we have different interpretations of everything. The original manga is gruesome and punk, the first anime series starts kinda like that but becomes a comedy after it first half, we have individual movies like Castle of Cagliostro, which portraits Lupin so romantically, or The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, which is very dark and adult, and we have Part IV and Part V that have a little plot and connection but follow the general formula... You choose. There's no place to begin. I've started with this season's anime and I'm not losing anything, though I may recommend watching Part IV first. Watch Cagliostro too, it's beautiful. If you know Cowboy Bebop, you'll see how it references Lupin III; killer jazz soundtrack, Western tone and cool thugs in episodic adventures. Not only CB, but most anime that came out after the 70s. (sorry for the essays lol)

Fun fact about GeGeGe no Kitarō's creator: He fought in WW2 and wrote about his experiences before, during, and after the war. And by wrote I mean drew as well. This guy made a 4 volume manga covering the entire Showa era of Japan. It's incredibly fascinating to experience his life as well as Japanese history through his art. I can't recommend it enough.

I love Legend of the Galactic heroes I was just browsing through Crunchyroll and found and fell in love with the series I managed to keep up with the battles so far and even predict the manuouvers they did, it was awesome to think how can they bring this back, and see the information displayed in the projections, and figure out the strategy before it happened, I love a good military anime like this.

Hearing more about Megalo Box from this video makes me want to check it out, at first I thought it was legit going to be the same story just with the cyber twists added on. I haven't heard many talk about Caligula or Hinamatsuri, so the fact that you recommended those two make me very happy! I wasn't expecting much from Caligula when I first read about it, but I gave it a shot anyways. I'm very glad I did though because I have been really enjoying the series so far. I'm loving the music, I like the MC's interest in philosophy and psychology, and I like how the show has conveyed the feeling of "something is very wrong here". Honestly I don't know how the studios been making it so enjoyable to watch, but I'm loving it and wish more people would give it a shot.

holy shit, it this season actually... good? Like... really good? I'm finding a lot that I'm enjoying and I haven't even checked out everything I intend to yet. Hell, I haven't even gotten around to Steins; Gate 0. A pretty great change of pace from last season that had one really good show that wasn't my type, one high quality trash show, an okay comedy and that was it. And I guess the rest of Ancient Magus bride. That wasn't as good as the first half of Ancient Magus Bride.

Full Metal Panic is such a fantastic anime! I'm not into military or mech stuff at all, so years ago my friend tricked me into it with the spinoff series Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, which was more of a slice of life/romance/easy going bridge between the first and second season. Of course there are some spoilers if you do it that way, but it made me give the full series a chance and I loved every minute of it!! I haven't checked out the new season yet but I'm a bit skeptical it won't live up to the nostalgia. Here's hoping! Also, I'm not sure magical girl site is meant to be funny, but I'm glad it's bad enough to be good. xD I read the manga years ago and it was honestly pretty trashy, but still interesting enough?
