Kudos, professor! Thank you. So much food for thought. I knew a lot before but learnt so much more today. I could relate many stories both good & bad about both blacks & whites but unfortunately, racism is on both sides of the fence, though more pronounced on one side than on the other. A house divided among itself cannot stand. I think the greatest weapon that others have been using against us, & continue to use is our divisiveness, whether it is superimposed on us or self imposed. One great example of Blacks fighting the odds & establishing themselves was shared by a Black Jamaican who recounted their shock when they immigrated to England in the 1950s and were shocked to see signs on places for rent: 'No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs!' The indomitable Jamaicans came together & "threw partner" (an informal economic way of saving with others & getting your turn to "draw" a lump sum). They pooled together & bought 1 or 2 houses that they shared but within 3-5 years many bought their own property & houses, much to the chagrin of those who tried to keep them out! Some whites started to complain how they could not afford houses but Jamaicans were buying their own houses. Unity is strength. Ownership is key.

Yes I remember! and can't forget the hateful encounter and what made this hate-encounter unforgettable is the bullet that he got in the soul of his feet, so they was still shooting him even though he was down.
