I looked up the italian translated lyrics earlier today. It's truly a Prayer in Italian that Scott sings, while Mitch sings a counterpoint with the same sentiment, not the same words. Bellisimo, in whatever language you speak. I thought Scott sounded especially magnificent at the start of this. Starting lower than he usually does melted this old lady's heart. This video gave me goosebumps. I did chuckle a little, though. You can tell they're not from a cold area--because Scott's ankles would freeze and Kirstin's legs would absolutely freeze. (I live where the winters are harsh and long.) Still, the visuals match well with the song and the way they arranged it. I would love to hear more of Scott's non-pop singing--he's got a beautiful tone. And Mitch....well....what can you say. His voice is so beautiful.

"The Prayer" was written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis for the 1998 animated film Quest For Camelot. On the soundtrack the song was sung separately in English by Celine Dion and in Italian by Andrea Bocelli. Dion and Bocelli also recorded the song as a duet which appeared on each of their respective solo albums. This rendition is widely considered the definitive version of The Prayer, though Celine also recorded a live version with Josh Groban in 2008. Celine and Josh actually first met in February 1999 at the rehearsal for the 1998 Grammy Awards. Dion and Bocelli were slated to perform the song on the awards broadcast but he couldn't make it in time for the rehearsal. David Foster scrambled to find someone to do the rehearsal with Celine and a music teacher friend recommended Josh Groban, a 17 year-old high school student. Rosie O'Donnell was at that rehearsal and invited him on to her daytime talk show. Later that year, Foster invited Groban to sing at the inauguration celebrations for the newly-elected Governor of California. TV producer David E. Kelley subsequently cast Groban in the season 4 finale of the hit tv series Ally McBeal. In that episode, he performed the song "You're Still You", which became a massive radio hit, even though there was no actual studio version of it released as a single. The radio stations just kept playing the audio from the tv episode. Groban reprised his role in the next season, this time singing "To Where You Are". Thereafter, he was signed to a recording contract at Warner Bros Records, thus launching his career.

I've seen all their videos and have seen them in concert several times, but this is next level even for them. It's stunning. I agree with you that's it's nice to see other members take the lead. Not that I don't love Scott, but having other members start songs more often with him having a later solo keeps things fresh and innovative. And I agree with Rihanna--Mitch's voice is sick. His voice by itself, his duet with Scott, his back and forth with Kirstie, all unbelievable. If there is any justice in the world, they'll win more than one Grammy for this video.

This outdoes the Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion version both for production (to be fair, they simply stood and sang) but also for vocals. Five people making as much sound as the orchestra and the singers, but also telling the story. Far more inspiring. I love Andrea Bocelli and have for years, but this version upgraded from the original. Scott is singing in Italian and Mitch is actually translating again like the original. And don’t forget they will do this live on tour. One thing especially good about PTX is they never record anything they can’t do live. This was the first song released on their newest album "Evergreen" for the Christmas tour 2021. There is a video on KZbin of the making of this video and I was a little surprised it was all indoors. This is the cover of the Prayer by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Celine being a French Canadian is singing in English while Andrea Bocelli is an Italian opera singer. Scott is singing in Italian doing Andrea's part and Mitch is doing Celine's part. They're doing it great, in their version as great as always. You can listen to Marcelito Pomoy, who is Filippine and can sing this song doing both parts. He is also self-taught (like PTX) but had a very hard childhood, can sing in multiple languages and of course can do female and male parts easily.
