*MUST SEE!* Pharrell's NEW Louis Vuitton Collection (LV Men's FW24)

As an indigenous First Nations woman (not from Dakotas), but Seneca from NY, I actually appreciated the collaborative effort Pharrell respectfully showcased. “Native Am.” themes, colors, artwork, beadwork, embroidery patterns etc. were beautifully, respectfully & correctly done. Being a “designer”😉 myself, having handmade all of my son’s ceremonial garb & his PowWow/social regalia, I could clearly see the indigenous (Native American) influence. The designs and workmanship absolutely scream Wild West which in turn commemorates both cultures. “Native American culture” is American history, hence we are indigenous to the Americas/First Nations! This Collection was not meant to be offensive but yet showcase the diversity within our own Indigenous culture & how it already exists within American history going back to this time frame of the west & currently today! Now, I do agree that not all the pieces are wearable and some just looked tacky or cheap but overall imo, I was impressed and proud of the part my people played in the whole show. We are still here! & WE (Native people) deserve space in high fashion.

Pharrell did a brilliant collection at Chanel in 2019 and he has done a brilliant collection at LV. You can see his style is very generation X. The distressed leather pieces that people are poking fun at is how leather looks when you have dehydrated, tanned, moisturised it and then used it - true workgear. The smell and the strength of that leather is amazing and the critics are actually showing their ignorance.

When Pharrell was announced as the new head of men’s, a lot of people had negative reactions (I think you might have been one of them, Cassie lol) and questioned whether he was qualified bc, of course, everyone is a fashion expert online and went to St Martins but I had a feeling he might deliver. I’m happy to have been proven right. This show was GREAT! I particularly love the red leather suit one of the models wore. People also seem to LOVE the Speedys and I do TOO. Excellent collection!

As a Native American individual (Diné from NM/AZ) I agree that maybe a backstory of some sort should’ve been featured in social media with the involvement of the Indigenous peoples in designing and creating and the process or dialogue of it. I’m sure there will be some sort of article, video or media from the Indigenous artists themselves in the near future that might share with the communities and the public about their success and experiences with this collection. It was awesome to see with the representations for us Indigenous peoples in North America and seeing some familiar faces and singers from the LV fashion show❤ ahéhee’!

Their heritage was stolen and they were confused, and imposters took their place, but the truth is truth and it will be revealed! Moors the tribes of El, Bey, etc… are the rightful owners of Americas it was stolen from them, but just look up Moroccan peace and friendship treaty to understand what really happened . And why its not thought in schools? So called thanksgiving was created to celebrate the defeat of Moors! They stole their land and made them slaves.

I’m sure you’ve already seen the name of that bag style by now - but it’s a steamer trunk. Vintage ones used for travel. They have a hard base. I think it’s super cute how they shrank them and made them into backpacks. I see the large vintage ones on what not every so often.

I’m watching like this 🫣 because I am in money saving mode right now. This collection probably isn’t for me, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship (especially how the pieces look weathered worn and aged - not in a golden goose way, but in a sophisticated mature way) Also I have to LOL because the Pharrell for LV featuring Timberland sounds like a mid 2000s hip hop collab that I’d probably have had on my iPod 😂

I associate western with Ralph Lauren and since the polo is trending this just makes sense. I think Western isn’t costume but a specific style, like when you see people in bike attire. It’s very specific style but it works. I think it is part of American heritage so part of me feels it belongs with Ralph Lauren, but Pharrell is American so in a way I feel he is showcasing a part of us to the world. I ❤.

This collection brings a lot of western style creativity to the forefront albeit a real mix going back decades. The silver toed boots were popular in the 1950s and 60s as were the hand tooled purses that take up to 100 hours of leather carving to achieve completion. Embroidered western shirts were huge from the forties until the sixties. As for the very odd purse that looks like a saddle, the triangular shaped leather pieces are fitted onto western saddles and they are called tapaderos. Tapaderos prevent the boot from going through the saddle and they protect the rider and perhaps the horse from thorny or prickly bushes. The long fringed object on the “saddle” purse is usually called a serape and they are now mostly used on parade horses. Looking forward to see what pieces hit the stores.
