MUST SEE!! The Amazing O SCALE Layout of Stephen Koferl! Layout Tour and Train Run with RJ's Trains!

In todays video we head all the way down to Long Island NY to take a look at my good friend Stephen Koferl's O scale and tinplate train layouts! In this video we watch the trains run as well as get a tour around Steve's layout and part of his amazing collection of Lionel trains & more! I enjoyed the video. The videoing was outstanding and the train layout was fantastic. I really like the way Stephen related the details of the layout to his real life. I have a smaller lay out of pre/post war trains and can't image the time and effort that went into Stephen's layout.

The Long Island railroad would run trains of flat cars with Farmer's wagon and horse teams on the flatcar so they could transport their goods into the city where they could make more money. Probably the first instance of trailer on flat car type of railroading

Just curious So much American 0 gauge is 3 rail and just wondering why? Is just pure nostalgia from all the post war stuff. It looked wonderful regardless

steven rowe its a hard question to answer haha. I honestly donʻt know why 3 rail hangs around since 2 rail O scale exists (like DCC OO just in American O scale.) I think Lionel kept with 3 rails since they dominate the O scale market and didnʻt want to change their track and locomotives to fit with 2 rails. Also you can run trains from today along side trains from the 30ʻs which is super cool so that could be another reason! Iʻm sure every o scalee you ask will have a different answer but thats my take. Thanks for the comment!

I always thought it had something to do with the wiring being easier with 3 rail. Aren't there polarity issues that complicate things a little more working with 2 rail track? Also, yes, I think at this point they don't want 3 rail equipment to become obsolete if they switched to strictly 2 rail
