Thank you so much for keeping my childhood alive and so much inginuity and improvements. Im at the stage of my life where its time to do my own thing. My older cousin had a set that was passed to him from my Grandfather.When my Grandmother passed in 1997 , everything was to go to me. My Greedy,black hearted Aunt threw everything in a dumpster so she said( yeah right. I believe that!). In spite of me she sold it all! Six sheets of Half inch plywood with the layout of the East Syracuse NY to the Minoa NY railyard with the hump that actually functioned most of the time that started in the basement, went up along the stairs to the living room, gradually climbed tothe ceiling in the dining room,circled around. And headed back down to the basement.I was fascinated with the layout and every Christmas Santa (meaning me) would get a new structure or scenery every year. The next season it would be added until Grandpa passed in 1978. Every year until Grandma started showing her dismay and it really started hurting inside we finally decided to pack it up.My Grimy Aunt resembled the wicked witch on the Wizard of Oz in spirit and believe it or not HER LOOKS! HOMELY SEAHAG SHE IS!! If it wasn't against the law,she wouldn't breathe another breath for what she stole from the family. Not only the train set, but the memories we cherished. A few of us have VHS tapes to remember and old reel to reels but she destroyed so much of us. I hope and pray no one else has had their memories stolen from them , but if so I feel for you. Thank you for reminding me about my Grandpa. BTW, my great Uncle worked for NY Central years ago too.

In 1963 my grandfather bought me a Lionel train set for Christmas. One day when it was raining, I decided to try to set it up. But there wasn't enough room. So I placed everything back as it came and slid the box under my bed. 37 years later, I asked my mom if my train was still there. She said, "yes, it's in the attic." Well, it wasn't in the attic. It wasn't anywhere. She had given it to Goodwill. A BRAND NEW LIONEL TRAIN SET!

@@epiccsx I'd think, start with O scale. That's my plan. Would O scale be safe for backyard running though? And are O scale trains water resistant? Those are two questions I'd need answered before I venture off into O scale trains. I've so far got two ho layouts. One is complete, the other is a work in progress.
@epiccsx4 жыл бұрын
@@thunderturbine8860 They are not water resistant. It's very similar to HO Scale. O Scale and HO Scale are made to be close to the prototype and realistic. G Scale is used outdoors a lot because they're not made to be close to the prototype, they're just made to be durable.
@thunderturbine88604 жыл бұрын
@@epiccsx ok. I'll get g scale. Although I have a decent sized house, it's not big enough for a huge O scale train layout. I think I might get a starter O scale set and then I'll expand as much as possible in my house. As I'm in Australia, we don't have basements like American houses do.

I purchased a JLC Legacy Big Boy #4024 back on January 30th of 2021 and it is impressive. Although it looks exactly like the Vision Line in detail, it does lack some of the enhancements such as whistle steam/smoke, blow down steam/smoke, individual smoke output for each stack and depleting coal load along with multiple speakers and the quillible whistle. Now Trainworld still has them, I'm tempted to get another.

I'd guess the cost of this train to be at least $1700 + S&H! Wish this review could have been in more detail! Yes, "Senor ERIC" would be the guy to do so! Ah the 4014, I am lucky enough to live in Cheyenne Wyoming, where she was restored. And I watched her head west on her run to Utah. The ground shook and so did my camera. It was and still is a sight to behold when she goes chugging by. Not quite the same sound as a coal fired steamer but still awesome to the max. My short video of her rolling past me, is on my channel. P.S. I remember a cold wet rainy morning when they fired her up and rolled her out. The first time they blew her whistle that day, sounded wet. They just didn't have enough steam up yet. That takes time, even with a oil fired boiler.
