I have a 72 914 Renegade with a 350 SBC . Love it, it’s been a garage trophy for a while because of a disability . I wish I could show you a picture of it ! Let me tell you a few important things if you live in California , vehicles 73 and older don’t have to be smogged . I also have the same Trany as this car 1st gear removed and other gears are replaced so it is now a 4spd w about 2500 rpm at 70 mph ! This was the best improvement I did to this car as it was too grany to drive on the freeway . I did the entire Renegade kit by my self including buying and rebuilding the SBC 350 . I gave a ride to my next door neighbor and he had to have one now he has 2 914 and 1 911 2 SBC and 1 LS he bought them , I made mine LOL ! Consider this my Cast iron SBC weighs quite a bit bit more than the original VW engine but the weight is still in the middle of the car so it handles beautifully ! Porsche purists call these NARPs (Not A Real Porsche) My license plate frame says “Body by Porsche…Balls by Chevy” !

Great stuff, thanks for sharing! And in CA anything 1975 and older is exempt from emissions testing.

I love this car! One of my dream cars. I like how this 914 was modded, very different but also subtle!

omg. this brings back memories of the day that I decided I was going to put a Buick 3800 V6 in my Fiero GT from 2008...

Thanks for sharing! Great video, felt like I was at the show having the conversation with the guy! lol! I have a 914 that I'm restoring (very slowly), the current plan is to keep it stock. TBH, I would just be happy to have it running as I have had it 7yrs and never driven it, having bought it as a project. Cheers!
