I come from Ghana, and roasted (grilled) corn is very common in the rainy season, when a lot of corn is harvested. You can buy corn either boiled or roasted. We dip it into slightly salty water, instead of butter. And it is taken with dry coconut. Tastes great!

It's actually a very VERY different taste than Ghanas corn. Being as I was raised in Alaska I definitely didn't grow up in a corn existing place... went to nebraska and world got a bit more open. Ghana 2 years later. I did the butter over the water as it was an option.

It scared me so much I cried I was about 10 or 11 years old and it made him feel so bad he found out i lived down the street and he went and talked to my Mom This was back in the 1980's early 1990's sometime When people didn't call the cops they talked to each other and fixed he stupid things that went on between each other like adults should So every year He would bring tomato's over to my mom so we could have tomato slices and corn on the cob lol and No Joke them were the best tomatoes ever in my life I have ever ate Memories you can't buy in no store

Gosh... If I can afford it sometime, I'm totally going on a food pilgrimage to the Americas. The things they serve (and EAT) are like mental torture, for a Norwegian that grew up in a country where the elders still think black pepper is a bit too spicy, and where garlic was something we stopped bullying the Arabs for in the late 90's or so. Still Scandinavian cousine is such a tasteless affair, it explain why obesity haven't managed to become a problem here, although it totally would become one, if we had 1/10th of the options for snacks as places like USA with such a mix of various comfort foods.

When I was about 7 years old I literally asked for nothing but corn on the cob for my birthday, and that year was probably the best birthday I ever had, and I was not a deprived child one bit. We sat in our backyard under our giant tree and ate corn on the cob for hours it seems. But a lot of good hours! Next to a corn dog and fair Taffy, a roasted corn would be on the first 3 on my list to have to get at the fair. I love mine on a fire but on a barbecue is almost as good and definitely worth paying for over anything else.

Honestly Food Network tier show except… It’s better. An amazing combo of a great, genuine host in Sonny and his always amazing co-hosts plus his ability to bring out the best of their personalities and the fact that Sonny is genuine and his team knows, understands, and is in touch with his fanbase! Also have to give a HUGE well deserved shoutout to the editor and production team!

Deep fried chocolate bars have been common in fish and chip shops across New Zealand and australia for decades. Some shops let you bring in your own chocolate bars (incase the shop doesn't sell a particular brand) and will deep fry it for you

Belgian here. I must say those guy's fries look just right. Had a ton of fries in north America, and it mostly was crap. Those are cooked properly with separate oil baths. Usually we use a longer cooking on the first and just a second other bath here after a short rest. Being on the clock though, three baths isnt a bad solution.

As a Minnesotan, I think it's funny how we have a lot of "biggest" things! The fair is iconic, and so is the mall of America!
@seancostello41582 жыл бұрын
trying to compete with Texas for the title of "biggest".. meanwhile, alaska's laughing at both of you!
@icantbeliveitisnot2 жыл бұрын
@Sean Costello I was not talking about land mass, bears, or even moose. I was referring to Minnesota's need to have the "biggest" things. Like Paul Bunyan his ox babe. Or our sculpture of the cherry and the spoon. Alaska wins, no contest if we are talking land mass. Alaska even beats mn for total shoreline. But mn comes in a distant second if we count lakes and rivers for shoreline.

Wow, how could your list of biggest things exclude "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota"? It's goddamn iconic.

Sorry, Dutchie here. We have had fried batter for centuries. We call them oliebollen: oil balls. Mix them with raisins as well an topped with powdered sugar. We eat them at New Years Eve. Than the Coca Cola: I make a coca cola cake and it tastes amazing. Love this channel! So fun. Come visit me in the Dominican Republic anytime

Watching this brings me so mixed feelings. I feel a real temptation of tasting it and at the same time my stomach is terrified thinking what a nightmare it will have to digest. But still, it looks really tasty. Hope one day I'll have a chance to visit those fairs. For me as for Russian, American food traditions sometimes seem truly monstrous, but yet - interesting 😁 (like for any European, I guess).
@toastedtoastontoast2 жыл бұрын
same. I love mocking the sh!t out of Americans and their food, but at the same time some of these things would be amazing to try. Maybe if I was dying I would do it, because you don’t need to worry about the gastrointestinal issues and weight gain 😂
@greg83602 жыл бұрын
yeah this is fair food. it’s kind of meant to be insane and ridiculous. you won’t find most of this outside a fair. when people go to a fair they do not care about health they just want to try the craziest stuff imaginable.
@alchimyst49952 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Sonny is very clear that this is fair food. This isn't really American food, no one eats any of this stuff outside of fairs. Fairs are definitely a part of American culture but the food served there is in no way indicative of American cuisine. American cuisine is actually a massive amalgamation of different cultures.
@akiraasmr30022 жыл бұрын
You are not the only one lol Im from America but have friends in Germany and I sent the candy I love Nerds gummy clusters to all my friends in Germany only one friend really loved them while my best friend said they were too sugary for his palate. He was gonna send me German sweets his child hood favorites but USPS lost the package which made me sad cuz he was so excited for me to try them.

For some of the stuff like cheese curds & tatchos etc it's best to have a few friends, so you can each try a little bit without getting overly full.

I thought she said it took 8 or 10 years or something, which is odd. That is the type of menu items that gets approved much easier. Anything different, and any weird thing on a stick (like deep fried olives on a stick 😝), is a golden ticket to a fair.

In the beginning, I thought Sonny's YT Channel name was pretty bold and a bit corny. *BUT over time he's truly lived up to the "Best Ever Food Review Show" claim.* *Informational, full of culinary adventure, mind-boggling (stomach churning?) extreme exotic food trials around the world --- and --- quite entertainingly full of humor (he's the only one that does that, and genuinely). KUDOS!*
