The Joyuda neighborhood in the coastal town of Cabo Rojo has some quaint seafood restaurants right on the shore. The Red Flamboyan in the surfing town of Rincón is also pretty good.

You need to come to the southeast! Try brazo gitanos from Franco and from Ricomini in Mayaguez, helado chino (Chinese ice cream) made with local tropical fruits at Rex Cream, the natural juice piraguas (shaved ice snowcones) on the road to El Combate in the Boquerón area of Cabo Rojo.

I am from Puerto Rico and this was a great piece. I can recommend two things: 1. Do a segment about the roasted pig area in Guavate. 2. Do a fine dining piece highlighting some of the fancier eating places that make typical PR food but with a fancier take (La Casita de Miramar, Wilo Bennet)

Thanks for the recommendations. We visited Lechonera Angelito's Place and shot lechon there. Then, off the clock, I went to Celeste (@celeste.pdt) and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best meals I've had in the last 5 years.

Puertorican here. The great thing about the Island is that it caters to the cultural food for everyone to enjoy. The Island has many wonderful experiences not only food but a historical history that many can explore and enjoy. As all countries have. ❤️

Hey Bryan, I'm glad you've been able to try some of the authentic local food. Something that's also part of our food culture and very much beloved is the puerto rican style Chinese food. It's something you won't find in many places in the world and it's delicious. I recommend Confianza China and Prosperidad China. You won't regret it.

How about trying locally made desserts next time? Guava cheesecakes, empanadillas, various coconut desserts, bread pudding, etc. They are very tasty both with your morning coffee or afternoon snacks. Puerto Rico also makes the world's best coffee. Even the least desirable of its brands are better than most North American coffees. There are also great juices such as coco water, guanabana, guava juice, etc. All VERY tasty!

You have to check the west side of Puerto Rico. In Cabo Rojo on carr 307 a spot called Gusaby Cafe. Close to the best beach in Puerto Rico. Their food is top tier and the people are really nice. Check it out!

Don't forget to try the BBQ. There's a place just before Luquillo that I believe is called Verde on the right side of Hwy 3 before you hit town coming from San Juan. And, of course, the kiosks in Luquillo are try. Also, have some Mofongo. Enjoy!

Hi Bryan Try coastal or near coastal towns like Añasco, Rincón and Yabucoa. And you must try Guavate which has a route famous for roast pig or La Rita del Lechonera. Also as I do go and forget about diet.

In my opinion, it's more "meaty" in flavor, and has less of that typical seawater sweetness that you get from other crab varietals. It's absolutely delicious and unique. Whenever I have the option for land crab in PR, I always get it.

Oh mercy, friend you missed out on what the folks from the Island call " the pork highway." It's an absolute must for anyone that visits the Island. It's in the town of Guavate. Roasted pork and every savory side dish you could think of. Go back and don't miss out. You won't be disappointed.

I'm sorry but I was just there & 90% of these outdoor food vendors are Dominican. It's hard to find a real Puertorican spot in piñones. I'm not racist towards Dominican people but if I'm in Puerto Rico I want to eat from puertorican cooks. If i want Dominican food I'll just stay here in NYC, sucks bc I will never go back! I had no idea tbh if i did i would've avoided Piñones all together. My point IS this food is not authentic Puertorican food, is not pure blood puertorican ppl cooking it. You can tell the texture the color everything about it. Alcapurias a pale in color not dark & lack meat, bacalaitos are soaked in bacalau water & flat as hell, has lil to no bacalau meat . You get tostones with everything there now too😂
