Oooh, I wish you published this two weeks earlier. Just came back from Kyoto. Itadaki Zen was indeed a culinary highlight for us. Two more personal favorites that didn't make your list: Vegan Ramen TowZen and Vegginy.

Aw nooo, you'll just have to come back!! 😅 I'm glad you got to enjoy Itadaki Zen at least, and thanks for adding to the list. I haven't had TowZen yet!

i had a vegan monk ramen in pontocho alley last year that was absolutely incredible, best ramen bowl i ever had because it has a ton of veggies and beans and it really blew my mind the flavor profiles and combos that i never had before. It was called 'original kyoto ramen' on the northish part or top of pontocho alley

@@rebekkasmith6612 I wouldn’t call it a must have. The food at Choice is always fine but if you want a more special experience I’d look at some of the places in the video, like Itadaki Zen.

Thank you so much for your videos, they're perfect - short but densely packed with info so I can just pause or go back to write something down. I can tell we have very similar tastes as half your list was already on the top of my list to try! The other 6 I just hadn't heard of. Looking forward to my visit soon, and I'm sure it will be all the more enjoyable because of you. Question for you: I've been seeing so many delicious strawberry things to try, I may be exchanging my chocolate addiction for a strawberry addiction on my trip - is it just a seasonal thing that these bites are so abundant, or are most of them available year round? Thank again!
@ChefinJapan4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! I’m glad to hear the video was helpful. I’ll be making another updated one soon ^^ As for strawberries, they peak in Jan-May, but I think you can find them in sweets shops all year round! (just not the super market.) Happy Japan eating~

Oh nooo, the secret hack to finding out if a restaurant is open is to check their instagram, the Google hours are not reliable here unfortunately 😅

When I went to Japan in 2019 I made a google maps list of all the vegan places I visited and wanted to visit! Sadly many of the places permanently closed because of the pandemic. I’m happy to see there are still options in Tokyo!

Great video, thanks for sharing! How accommodating are standard non vegan restaurants in Japan as a whole to make things vegan-friendly?

Non vegan restaurants are not vegan friendly, however there are a lot of restaurants in Kyoto and Tokyo that offer clearly labeled vegan options even if they’re not a vegan restaurant!
