In the US these companies are extremely large and powerful with hot and cold running lawyers on tap, if she said specifically that Walmart were price fixing then she would be in a personal world of hurt with lawyers crawling all over her micro examining every word she said and throwing round huge lawsuits against her. Does anyone believe that farmers are getting a fair price for their goods and that supermarkets are not driving down the price that they pay but not what they charge and pocketing the profit? Anyone? Whilst I like most of what the Senator Kennedy does, this is borderline intimidation, 'tell me the name of the companies you believe are price fixing' oh, and if you do they will likely sue you back to the stone age, and if you don't, I can ignore the issue and pretend that is doesn't exist.

Farmers used to pass their farms down to the children. Children are not choosing to work the land but rather leave the area. Farmers then sell off the land/properties if they can't find someone to buy and continue his farm. I saw this in my hometown and rural farming in the area.
