Fully agree with Jonathan. Not sure how the soldiers can even fight knowing that the commanders have not been held accountable. In the old days, these guys would have resigned. Let's hope for immediate court-martials when this ends.

Finkelman was responsible long ago for stolen firearms from the army, yet, he became major general this summer. Haliwa was never in intelligence before becoming head of Aman. What are they going to do? Kill Hamas by being a walking joke? Having these people in the army is a pure nonsense

Joffre is a much better example than Stalin of what to do with the incompetent or lacking aggression generals. The Great Patriotic War started June 22nd not 21st. Stalin killed just a few generals, he couldn’t kill all, as the failure was extreme. Pollard, as always, is superb in his analysis!

The failings of the IDF are deeper than just these two incompetents. That a front line base is guarded by 4 women is criminal stupid. The field officers should have been screaming bloody murder. Every front line base should have a battalion of combat soldiers. That's close to 400 armed men with about 100 on guard at any time. You have Russian style central control, that's why it took over a day to move a few rifle companies 3 miles. A pathetic performance by any standard. The fence itself was an enterprise in corruption, a problem in Israel at every level. If the army was well lead, the intel failure would have not been catastrophic. The main issues I see - 1. no troops deployed for a war in tactical positions in the south - Not a single rifle company at the border 2. Military bases with no defensive prep or proper guards - 20 km away from the border not properly guarded or commanded. 3. Lack of initiative and imagination of the field officers - 4. A woke army - more interested in being politically correct than being victorious. Bad discipline at all levels. Low IQ marionettes at the top. Few killers in the ranks and they are at risk by PC officers. Truth is, right now; the Arabs can march and murder every Jew in Israel and the IDF would not be able to stop it. The border with Jordan is wide open , not even a fence just misplaced trust in a puppet ruler.

I comment from the perspective of my understanding (British understatement on my part) of international law & concomitant belief that Moshe remains humanity's greatest giver of Hashem's law. Customary International Law affords states the right of self-defence enshrined/codified in Article 51 of the UN Charter. "Revenge" is not countenanced under international law and the right to self-defence.There is a quandary.

What order constitute being contrary to the Torah? Example: in time of war humanitarian aid contradicts the Torah see Deuteronomy 20:16. Eviction of Jews from Judea and Samaria see Deuteronomy 19:14. The Muslims are descendants of Ishmael who isn't a heir of Avrahm see the Genesis 21:9-12.
