Mahidevran murdered Mehmet, Sulieman killed Mustafa (with encouragement from Hurrem). Mahidevran killed Mehmet first. Lets be honest, Sulieman could have decided not to kill his son & grandson.

In drama, yes, in reality, mahidevran had nothing to do with mehmet death. Accept it or not, hurrem was a cruel and ambitious woman.

@@Borntobekpoperas Hurrem with Mustafa's. It's just a rumor, never confirmed by historians. It was a decision made by Suleyman alone because he feared for his throne being taken by Mustafa. His grown popularity between the Janissaries has made him worried. Plus, he was reported as a traitor who wanted the throne before his father's death. Being that truth or not, even if Mustafa didn't want that, his mother obviously wanted him to take the throne. Suleyman basically did what his father didn't succeed in. Killed his own son

Suleiman is the main villain here how could he get jealous of his own son.... Suleiman always wanted to give the throne to Mehmet by he died bcz of illness(according to history), he always afraid of Mustafa, bcz of his gut feeling Mustafa died and bcz of this truma Jahangir also died...he failed as a father, if Mustafa get the throne he will definitely become a great sultan

Suleiman was always the main villain..or maybe he was supposed to be it. It's been foreshadowed so many times that he is destined to become like his father or maybe worse. He always had dreams that someone will over shine him or someone will take his power. He started having those dreams from long ago. His behaviours started changing slowly but he became more and more arrogant and selfish with time. In the beginning whenever someone praised Ibrahim or Mustafa he used to get proud and later he used to get offended by hearing people praising them. Him despite being a religious person suddenly being obsessed with Machiavelli book for no logical reason. These were the signs.

If you have any source of original books once verify, mehmed died to natural causes not by mahidevran. It was shown in the series to make it intresting to potrait hurrem as a hero

In reality meaning not the show. They were caught up in too many calculations. It was a fight for survival based on their archaic laws and customs. Many could have lived but for the sultans ridiculous beliefs and customs

my understanding is the laws came about when one of the sultans died and his sons all split the empire, and then fought and killed each other to take full control. The internal wars caused so much chaos and conflict within the Ottoman empire for years, weakening it. That is why they thought it was better to get rid of the competion immediately to avoid what had previously happened. Not saying it was right, just stating the actual history as to why.

Everyone loves to blame Hurrem but what about mahidevran? She was the reason her son got killed. Hurrem had warned her many times over that her obsession over the throne was putting Mustafa in danger. Had she held him back he would have nothing to fear.

I personally don't like what happened after shehzade Mustafa. i didn't even watched futher this series. But one line makes me cry as always. 4:56 when Huirem Sultan says if you have big problem don't complain it to Rabb. Turn to the problem and say Rabb is big. Such a heart touching sentence.

I know most of the people know about ottoman from the series and most people love hurrem as people get to see her past and another due to meryem(i don't like hurrem or mahidevran in series but love meryem). We see how hurrem is the only one who was alone in the whole time but in real history it was kind of opposite. Mahidevran didn't had anyone due to the conflict with hurrem and fell out from being favourite concort. Call me biased but I love real life Mahidevran as 1. She knew how to gather trust of common people and the army 2. She was indeed a great mother to Mustafa and he was a competent heir and kind of both the mother and them had similar vision like Selim I. One of the greatest reasons why Sultan Suleiman executed Mustafa.

suleiman was thinking mustafa might need to follow the rules he didnt and hurrem was thinking about how mahidevran was plotting to kill her children and wanted her to lose that power mustafa being alive gave her mahidevran should never have threatened her children. mustafa and mahidevran brought the trouble on themselves.

In whole serial i didn't like mahidevran ..she only thinks about mustafa crowing as king..she never loves sulieman as hurrem loved..magnificient century is abt unconditional n passionate love of hurrem towards king suleman..she used to love mahidevran children but mahidevran always differentiate between them n wants to take revenge with hurrem.

sultans killed anyone who reached for the throne full stop Sulieman was the last prince standing as his father selim killed his brothers. Heck the worst i can think on top of my head was a descendant Sultan Mehmed 3rd, his half bros were children AND BABIES. He killed NINETEEN OF THEM. This is nothing to do with Hurrem, Mahidevra (in show) killed Mehmed so started this. Sultans comitting fratricide was a tradition ongoing for generations before and after Sulieman. Mustafas power was growing and sulieman got spooked. Should have kept his head down. Theres no love strong enough that a whisper can break the love of a father/son relationship like that, however evidence that the janissaries are supporting a direct threat to your throne is another matter.
