The Steeda Tri-Ax starts with precision CNC machined billet aluminum body. The body's heavy-duty construction features no welds, stampings or castings for ultimate durability and precision engineering to fit right.
The nickel-plated shaft won't rust or stain, and has been machined to exacting tolerances for smooth, precise operation. Offset pre-load springs make sure you find third gear every time and adjustable positive stops prevent damage to the transmission.
Up top, the Tri-Ax features an exclusive boot guard to prevent damage to the factory inner boot, two-position adjustable handle height and a new forged Tri-Ax shift handle. The forged aluminum handle is strongest and lightest handle available on the market. Its unique three-axis bend places the shift knob closer to the driver for fast, precise and comfortable shifts.

Thanks guys for all of these awesome videos. I subscribed to latemodelrestoration over a month ago, and have yet to be disappointed. The simplicity in these how-tos has inspired me to get back into modifying my Fox body. (read: put car fun ahead of honey-do list...where it should've been in the first place.) Keep up the good work.

Is it bad if there is no gap between the shifter stop bolt and the shifter? Can it cause damage?
@latemodelrestoration
@latemodelrestoration Жыл бұрын
betoski - It isn't good or ideal. If there is contact between the shifter stop bolt and the center shaft, it could rattle and cause noise, and it could cause an under shift where you don't get full engagement, and it pops out of gear under load. -Landan

Can I just use my stock shifter base screws? I lost the ones that come with the shifter. Also,is there a way to install without the ugly leather shifter cover? What options do I have?
@JF-tt6wy
@JF-tt6wy 8 жыл бұрын
+Dennis Prow I know this question is old, and you've probably already taken care of the issue. But I'll go ahead and answer it for anyone else who may have the same problem. No you can't. The stock base screws won't be long enough to hold the new shifter in place.

@@JF-tt6wy hi I know this is super old but I just bought this shifter and I'm having a problem. When I set the shifter into the base there's like an inch of space. It's not sitting flush. Is there supposed to be a gap? Or am I missing something. The shifter rod is definitely longer than my stock one
@JF-tt6wy
@JF-tt6wy 4 жыл бұрын
@@SteamTrain2639 Man, I'm not entirely sure since it's been so long since I've thought about this, but from what I remember, if you did everything like the video instructed, then it should fit perfectly without leaving any space between the shifter base and transmission. If you bought the correct shifter for your year then it should rest on it perfectly. My mustang is a 98, and the one I purchased fit quite well. If it's not fitting proper then perhaps you bought the wrong shifter for your model, or maybe they sent you the wrong one. Of course I'm just guessing here. But if it is the correct part for the car then perhaps it has an aftermarket transmission in it? Did you buy it used? I don't know if that would matter or not. I'm no expert in all mustangs. I only know about what I personally own. Oh, the timing of your question is pretty damn good. It's literally 4 years to the day right now that I installed it. Facebook memories reminded me of it earlier today.

well it's not a t-56 from a cobra lol it might be a newer tranny from a 5.0 but idk how all that stuff matches up i'd look under the car and see if your tranny has any marking on it

@OmarRuiz89
@OmarRuiz89 3 жыл бұрын
@@theuncluded6220 Tri-ax doesn't fit correctly in a foxbody T5 transmission, I'm currently installing one that a friend gave me, but he warned me because the rod pops out of the bushing, and can't shift until is reinstalled or install back the factory shifter. So I noticed the rod is 3/16 shorter that's why it pops out and I think that's why they absolutely sucks.

@@OmarRuiz89 oh, okay. I have a Mach 1 and it works great but I didn't know that about the fox body transmission having those issues. Thanks for the information though!
