Cool new project. SVO's were one car way ahead of its time.

Clean looking car. I had a similar noise on an 84 GT. Clutch pack in the diff. Hope you fare better than that.
@TonysFordsandMustangs Жыл бұрын
I'm leaning that direction however I'm not sure they are bad . I'm thinking the friction modifier is original to the car and therefore I just need a good cleaning and a service. All the bearings look good and there isn't much play anywhere.

Man! Tony you got a nice looking SVO inside & out. Good luck on that rear-end. 👍

Thanks for watching. Once I get this one all squared away it will be for sale. I have too many other cars from Fords history that I want to work on.

Tony, that is a good looking SVO. A little TLC, and I know you will have it purring. I look forward to seeing the progress.

Sweet find! Overall seemingly not a bad car, could just be me but I’ve always had a habit of changing all fluids at minimum on anything used I’ve bought

I do as well. Starting there now. The Oil filter was a Pronto with black writing and the paint was peeling off....

Hopefully someday I'll find a 1/24 Monogram SVO Mustang model kit someday... I built the AMT 1/25 88 Mustang GT kit recently and it came out pretty nice for me I think...
@TonysFordsandMustangs Жыл бұрын
I built that one when these came out. I know the kit you are talking about
@DominatorGarage2 ай бұрын
you got the Dreaded 7.5 axle issue. if beat on ive seen them bend axle tubes and destroy bearings within 200 miles of new install.
@floydmarseeii4007 Жыл бұрын
Sweet find!!! I’ve got a extra 7.5 SVO rear axle, if you need parts. I pulled the 7.5 out of my SVO and went to 8.8.
@TonysFordsandMustangs Жыл бұрын
IF the 7.5 in this one has any major issues I plan to go that route as well. I start ripping into the car next week. Thank you for the offer. :)
@floydmarseeii4007 Жыл бұрын
@@TonysFordsandMustangs you’re welcome, the biggest reason I changed mine, is because I put a 351 5.8L in my SVO.

Just curious how much you purchased it for. It looks fantastic for a car almost 40 years old. Is that a factory sunroof?
@TonysFordsandMustangs7 ай бұрын
Thanks it is a factory Sunroof and It was $8K
@CoastalAutoReactionCAR7 ай бұрын
Did you check the oil level in the rear diff?
@TonysFordsandMustangs7 ай бұрын
Yes. I did a full service on the rear axle. My thinking is that it was the original fluid and the friction modifier additive had broken down. I replaced all the fluids and the rear is now quiet. :)

Wheel bearings are very fixable. At least it wasn't the engine running hot with white vapor coming out of the exhaust. That would be a rebuild.
@TonysFordsandMustangs Жыл бұрын
Not so much on the road. I would need a slide hammer, a bearing puller, the actual bearings, seals, the gear oil and additive. We will see what's going on there shortly. Thanks for watching!

I wonder how much it costs? It's very expensive when new, and that's why it didn't sell well. Most people would rather have a GT. Hope it works out well for you
@TonysFordsandMustangs5 ай бұрын
Since most people would rather have a GT the SVO doesn't cost as much :). Thanks for watching and so far it's working out.
@RoadRunnergarage8570 Жыл бұрын
She'll need a bit of tinkering like most of them do though ..
@DB-be9wy Жыл бұрын
How much did you pay for it?

Did the seller mention anything about the rear-end. He probably didn't know.
@TonysFordsandMustangs3 ай бұрын
No he did not. I don't think you would notice until it got up to temp and the rear heated up. I did a service and added new friction modifier and that squared it away. Ended up being an easy fix.
@usbombs11 ай бұрын
at 4:56 on rear seat on the left (right seat) it looks like a bug is crawling in a very janky way.
@TonysFordsandMustangs11 ай бұрын
It just looks that way. There were no bugs (alive) found in the car.
