I'm just curious IF anyone ever considered Charging their CCS port nozzle EV Car from Portable Power station instead of a Home Wall outlet plug? This would Eliminate the need for an expensive electrician install. Solar panels might be used for the Power source. Thank you.

After 11 months this charger had a meltdown at the wall socket and luckily my 50amp breaker tripped, would not recommend anymore.

I don't think the controller part is IP67 is it? I thought it was IP55. I know the handle is IP67 though.

Look at Nissan’s own analysis of this unit from March 20th, 2019 “EVSE Evaluation Non-Compliant Chargers.” Since then it has been involved in many fires and meltdowns. Stay far away!

There are many reports of this. Nissan even determined that it is missing core functionality of an EVSE that cuts power when there is a ground fault (CCID - Charge Circuit Interrupting Device) and has a fake CE mark.

Cool design ...but only a 30A cable and no UL rating... Not something I'd ever leave running unwatched in my garage.
@emmettturner94522 жыл бұрын
Exactly. There are numerous reports of this exact unit catching fire and/or melting. Nissan also found that it is completely missing the CCID (charge circuit interrupter device) that is supposed to be in any EVSE in case of a ground fault. It has a fake CE mark and has been implicated in so many failures that “Mustart” has become a joke response to any picture of a car fire.

I’d be surprised if they are still in business since they are implicated in so many fires and meltdowns.

Dude. You should take this video down. On March 20th, 2019, before this video even existed, Nissan released an “EVSE Evaluation” of “Non-Compliant Chargers” which singles out this Mustart EVSE for being dangerously non-compliant. Real-world use has born this out with many fires and meltdowns directly attributed to this non-compliant EVSE. It is completely missing the CCID (“Charge Circuit Interrupting Device”) for short-to-ground protection and has a fake CE mark. In EV circles the name “Mustart” has become a joke response to pics of any burned vehicle, but the reputation is deserved because it has genuinely been implicated in so many of them. This is one of the absolute cheapest Level 2 EVSEs and, well, you said it yourself: You get what you pay for. Even just looking at it, it’s obvious that the cabling is too thin for 32 amps. It really is bizarre that you would specifically stand behind the most notoriously bad unit available so I really think you should remove the video.

I think gaggets like this will help spur interest in EVs.

I was wondering if there was a travel cable that could do level 1 and 2... good to know. Just found this one: duosidaevchargers.com/products/220v-level-2-fast-charger-16-amps It's cheaper but only 16A Level 2 charging so not as fast as the Mustart.

I hate buying China made. Perhaps look for American made or build one myself. Excellent vid and I do like this charger, just China made,
@patrickflohe74272 жыл бұрын
This isn’t a charger. It’s an EVSE. -Big difference. The charger is in the car, all this thing does supply power to it.
@emmettturner94522 жыл бұрын
Get over it. Even the EVSE manufacturers call them “chargers.”
