Sheep are looking great and beautiful with wool. I personally feel funny after seeing a sheared sheep which lost its wool.

The last wool barron. Schedules back again last Friday and a bad dairy auction last night. Im fencing where the flood destroyed my fences. It's a bit wet still. Hope lambing goes the best ever. Andrew

Beautiful landscape. I was about to ask the altitudes and winds at the ridge compared to the barn/house location. Hell of a retreat.

The house is 290m above sea level. The front ridge is 660masl where the com tower is. The max height of the farm is 880masl. Wind at the house is on and off, can get strong at times. The wind on the ridge tops can be crazy strong.

with the weather we had overnight last night here in the South Island I am hoping that the sheep are keeping their legs crossed and not having lambs on the snowy ground - not good for lambing percentages - hopefully you have had time to set up the lambing shed

I am not from a farming background but have learned lot,what do you do if you and your family want to go off for a holiday and stocks are left behind?

We have to find some one locally who we trust to feed the dogs. Generally set up the farm so nothing needs doing while we are away.

Very interested in this prelamb shearing I'm seeing from NZ vloggers. People I've spoken to here say there's a risk of mastitis from cold on the udder. Do you find that?

Na haven't heard of that being an issue. The biggest issue we have with pre lamb shearing would be exposure in the week after shearing.

Again the hills look impossible to navigate . . . I can't imagine how steep they must be in real life, like to know how you'd drink a cup of tea up there, now there's a challenge. Your dogs must be super fit . . . that bale you unrolled looked like turf 😃. Cheers.

They can be a bit of a challenge. It's not the best balage. We have some better stuff for calving.

We use a cover comb and make sure they have good feed and shelter
