Garbage Picked Rockwell Engine. Can it Be Revived?

this is part 2 on this old snow mobile engine that was pulled out of a falling down barn in southern NH . the fuel system was missing parts on the 1st video and now we have them. lets wrench on it some more and see how we make out.

I think once you sort an air filter and exhaust system for it, it will run a lot smoother, as the 2 strokes tend to need some back-pressure at low RPM to maintain crankcase pressure, but otherwise it's been a fun and informative set of Videos, I hope we will get to see what you decide to put it on to power it, great video, love that you bring the dead back to life. Sundays wouldn't be the same without Musties medling lol

I’ve had horrible luck with those aftermarket carb kits. I basically use the gaskets only and will clean up and reuse all the brass adjusters and jets from the original as you said. They’ve got real bad the last few years. Those Tillotson carbs always threw me for a loop getting the stack up and orientation correct.

Those engines were garbage moto ski and arctic cat had them in them in the 70 s left cylinders would over heat and burn the rings

yep they were junk so much so Arctic Cat switched to Suzuki motors

For being junk, the 2 I had in Scorpions sure seemed to hold up extremely well and those little 400 cc Scorpions would outrun every Ski-Doo 440 or 440 John Deere I went up against.

I never had any problems with them and I would consistently outrun other brands 440's with my little 400 Scorpions.

There are replacement welsh plugs in the carb kit. Under those plugs it exposes small ports that transfer fuel into the carb throat. They are easy to replace.

For the starter issue, look at a starter from a small block Chevy. That'll give you an idea of what to fabricate.

Those carburetors were junk. Seems like even if you could get them working they wouldn't stay consistent. We always tried to find an appropriate sized slide carb to replace them with.
