I met Desi when we were youths about 14-15 years-old when a group of us from different schools would attend club meetings at the Junior Centre of the Institute of Jamaica. We'd learn all sorts of things. Tyrone Downie was also in that group. Desi always had drum sticks and wore a cap. We never interacted much after those days but I followed his career from a distance with great interest.

I was literally shocked when I heard of his death....brilliant drummer. His son is also an excellent bassist used to play in Zinc fence with Chronixx.

Respect and honor to the Ancestor Desi Jones. The first time I saw the bredren play was the first time I saw Muta live in 1982. His orthodox style of playing was what I remembered because it was different💚🖤❤️

I learn some tings bout him now... Ja know... I first saw Desi Jones play for Sonny Bradshaw back in 1998/99 in Mandeville, got to see him warm-up in the green room... I'll always remember that he'd have a smile on his face when playing, especilly one-drop. I think he's the first professional drummer I saw in person and met. Was a cool guy and great player... Saw him in person like 20-years later playing for an award ceremony in Mandeville and reminded me of that gig, boss juss jus laugh. Rest In Peace, JA & global music loving fraternity will miss ya....
