Dr. Majed Al-Ansari spoke well. He seems to be a very capable, intelligent and also a very affable man and it is reassuring to know that he had some kind of role in the negotiations. Too little is made of the important role the Qataris have played in these negotiations and will likely continue to play. Reading between the lines from what Dr. Al-Ansari said, there have likely been very frustrating moments where both Hamas and the Israeli Government have been very, very stubborn and the Qataris and Americans have just wanted to knock their heads together. The interview with Matt Frei was very insightful and more detailed than I was expecting it to be, although there are obviously limits on what Dr. Al-Ansari can reveal as the negotiations will continue as the ceasefire deal goes through its first phase and hopefully, progresses onwards to the planned second and third phases.

Trump is such a great peace maker yes that’s why he’s talking about taking Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal. He deserves credit for this yes. But he also emboldened the Israelis by sticking up the finger to Palestinians by moving the us embassy to Jerusalem and giving the Golan heights to Israel. A big part of why Israel have been so aggressive is because they were playing to trumps hands. You’ve been played. I hope the ceasefire holds and Palestine gets its freedom but I’m not as hopeful as yourself it seems

The Qatari diplomat effectively pleaded fifth amendment on the issue of what’s been the hold up since last July. He actually agreed with Israel’s position that the deal was ready for signing off by Hamas six months ago, but “everyone is saying the same thing”, I. E. exactly that. Then some waffle about systematic failures.
