Our Ancestors were on another level, closer to the livity they and the Universe established. Hard to find anyone who can live up to those principles. Note the difference between the Negative Confessions vs. the 10 commandments that speak to others (thou shall not) versus to self.
@Nuvision19
@Nuvision19 8 ай бұрын
Personal accountability and introspection is equally important as obedience. The Law, 10 commandments, and 600+/- tells you what not to do, 42 Confessions challenges you to answer. Problem with today's world, no one answers until they are forced to, if they are caught and called in to question. Don't know enough about ancient Egypt, doubt it was a Utopia...

The "42 Laws of Ma'at" was an initiatory oath text for priests stating Isfet (sinful) deeds they have not done or will not do. It was further developed in to the 125th chapter in the book of the dead.

Honest question; What sense would it make to take from a document but then later told not to do as the Egyptians do? The same people you’ve taken understanding from in the first place? Also, the very first commandment given to the children of Israel was a directive to be monotheistic. Egyptians worship multiple gods. Where is that law?
@MerciSednoe

Great question, the ten moral laws given at Sinai oppose the Ma'at in the very first point! Why have they disingenuously advertised these mantras from the book of the dead as laws? Then later on say they are not laws but mantras to self. The commands given by the God of the the living stand in contrast as directives given by an authority, the authority.

What is the Ma’at definition of sin? The answer to this is the key to religions that teach that sin must not be committed. I’ve never seen a preacher accurately describe sin. Without a description, how can you avoid sin?

I've just bought and began reading the Bible as of this year. Prior to this, I read the Book of the Dead - which I still have - and I can say this.. My synopsis is this.. Clearly ancient tribes tried to govern their people with the principles that God placed on them. However, anything good God tries to do, it will inevitably be twisted and deconstructed to keep people away from his Essence. Although these principles align with the Laws that Moses was given (which is more than 10).. God knew he needed to REVISE them because it was a new time and era and make them more strict. People were STILL commiting adultery but they began committing incest and beastilty. These Principles are no better than the Laws that Moses was given. They're older than the Laws, yes, but God makes corrections where he sees humans need better accountability. Honestly, I can't wait to get a Hebrew and Aramaic Bible so I can truly know what was going on then. I encourage everybody to keep diving deeper and asking questions! Don't allow anybody to deter you from continuing your RESEACH!

That's bs, our ancestors never called it the Book of dead, they called it The Book Of going forth By Day. It's only 3 of the bible's 10 commandments make sense. The bible clearly condone slavery, it says; "Slaves, place yourselves under the authority of your owners and show them complete respect. Obey not only those owners who are good and kind, but also those who are unfair." (1 Peter 2;18). Part of the extended Ma'at positive affirmation says, "I have not enslaved another".
@astihunny
@astihunny Жыл бұрын
If you research history in general, slavery was everywhere. It was not only subjected to a certain race of people like it was 400yrs ago. One was enslaved when a kingdom was conquered, when a debt was unpaid, or commited wrongful act. It's strange that you say only 3 of the commamdents make sense because they're the literally the same as the 42 principles but more in depth and applied to the time. Also, ancient Egyptians were definitely enslaving folks - you would know this if you looked deep into our history... It's also confirmed in the Bible. That "positive affirmation" is contradictory.@@oliverlaw02

Egypt? What is Egypt really? Look what scripture said of King Solomon and his wisdom: And God gave Solomon wisdom, exceedingly deep insight, and understanding beyond measure, like the sand on the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom was greater than that of all the men of the East, GREATER THAN ALL THE WISDOM OF EGYPT. [1Kings 4:29] Again I ask you, where is Egypt and it's 'greatness' ? When Jesus walked the earth it was recorded that he said in Luke chapter 11: [...] for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom; AND NOW SOMETHING GREATER THAN SOLOMON IS HERE. The wisdom of Egypt has been surpassed many times over, but cats still be hung up over ancient Egypt... Furthermore, in scripture the following is said about Egypt. You can read about The Desolation of Egypt in Ezekiel 29: Egypt will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again exalt itself above the nations. For I will diminish Egypt so that it will never again rule over the nations. Egypt will never again be an object of trust for the house of Israel, but will remind them of their iniquity in turning to the Egyptians. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD.” To this day Egypt indeed is still a desolate place, still full of corruption, suspicion, peddlers, begars, and organized crime.

We do not need the old books that keep the world separated and afraid. Through all of the doctrines and Religions over time, just look at 2024.🌏🌍🌎

The Egyptians surely didn’t live by these laws though. The scale you mentioned was their belief that their hearts will get weighed in the underworld ( afterlife) so that was the purpose of the scale. The Ancient Egyptians were indeed clever but still they are extinct now and even after thousands of years they have not returned to their bodies that they mummified 😅. Humans have always been curious and always think they should set laws to control the less powerful as the pharaohs killed a lot of common people as sacrifices to their gods , heck they even killed people ( hundreds) just to accompany them in the afterlife. Pathetic and cruel.

While Hammurabi was inventing ways to creatively light people on fire and throw them in rivers for stealing a goat. The Egyptians were contemplating being and existence-Which stacked the first bricks for notions of universal justice, ultimately coming to fruition many Millenia later at the trails of Nuremberg. Idk what other people are taught. But my old Korean classical civ professor in college said the 2 most important things from the ancient world that created the world today. Were the battle of Thermopylae and the Book of The Dead. 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🤓
