I'm pretty sure dad's the one with black feet. His mate's feet are grey. The male is usually leading the way... I used yo feed a swan family in winter. They all came waddeling up on land. Dad swan first, as he was the greedier one ! Then in tow mama swan, and five cygnets of near adult size. There was a fair bit of hissing, but then that's their way of talking... Luckily I had a large bag full of day old bread. Love from Norway 👩‍🦳🇳🇴 🦢 🦢 🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢

Anniefanny Charles - The part on their chests that are bulging out is where their crops are. When the crops are large, it means that they are eating well. The crop is where the food goes before it gets to the stomach for digestion. If the crop is small, it means they need food. All ten of those cygnets have bulging crops, so they're healthy and eating very well. That's good; it means they have good parents who know where to find food and take their babies to those food locations to eat. A nice rounded crop on the little ones always makes me smile; it means the little ones are healthy and eating well. For a few years now I've been watching the live webcams of the Decorah eagles (one nest, then two for the last four years or so; I also watch peregrine falcons, and one nest with the single puffin birth each year, and a nest of storks), and the size of the crop on the young indicates how well they are eating. When the crops are huge, the young usually sleep for a while. [It's the equivalent of humans having a full stomach after dinner and going to sleep soon after, like a "food coma" :-).]

Wow so beautiful. I have seen swans with cygnets. They are definitely awesome. The father is extremely aggressive in this stage. Will spread them wings and honk away and chase you as well. Absolutely gorgeous birds. Ty for sharing

I got to see a quiet journey of 2 Canadian Geese and their babies walking down the quiet street to the small lake. I was in the car and they really were not threatened by my presence. It was as if they were proud to take the journey with them. Very special moment for me. I watched for 15 minutes.

WOW. Very impressive group of cygnets and wish I could travel to the Netherlands to see that. Must be a very healthy pair of swans to have such a large group of chicks hatch !! Seen the same thing when visited The Netherlands in 2002 and couldn't believe my eyes! Birds came from a canal and went crossing a street. 5 cars stop and patiently wait for the birds to cross. I was mainly amazed by the humans kind reaction - this can't be seen In many other countries...

A day or two after I watched this I went up to the top canal here to see the bluebells in the bluebell wood and then went to find the swans. 10 cygnets!!!!! Incredible.
