These are my favorite Mutemath songs. The ones where the band seems to just be jamming together and Paul is using his voice more as a part of that instrumentation than as a centerpiece. Reset and Obsolete are my favorite mutemath songs for that reason.

I've always loved the demo version of Burden that played in front of this track. It is raw, unhinged and just pure Mutemath. Would love to get an official release one day!

I spoke with Paul Meany before a concert back in October. He told me about Darren's audition for the band (after Earthsuit broke up). They met up in a church and Darren got on the drum kit there. During the course of the audition he not only broke the church's sound system but also every single drum head on the kit. He was accepted on the spot. True Story.

I'm with @PapaKenny777. Mutemath, please self produce your next album. What these songs have morphed into is what will make me go out and buy the live version of this album and the dvd. While the newest studio album felt like Mutemath poured thru a sieve, this truly is and feels more Mutemath.

It's so cool to see these guys just joking around and laughing, cuz honestly, sometimes it feels like they're musical genius robots onstage. Like, so unreal and unhuman. hahaha. Really enjoyed this interview montage. Thank you!

@tylerbrainerd and @888ts: tyler is right and any fan of MM should know this too. the band sees playing live and recording an album as two totally different worlds so one would never be jus like the other. there are always differences in the songs and im glad that theyre like that. its nice not to here the same song played the same way because an album should be a representation of a band. not the band itself. bands play shows to promote the album BUT mutemaths album really promotes their shows

@MCKiran, the opening stuff is segments from "locusts." I think you can tell it's an early version of "burden" as some of the same elements are there.

It is some kind of synth patch in a music program or VSTi for something like Ableton or Reason more than likely, played through his (the bass player's) midi trigger pads in his alternate bass rig

Darren is the most soft spoken, humble person until you get him behind that set. He can say so much with 4 drums and 2 cymbals. I don't know anyone who can lay a beat that fat even with the extra drums/cymbals other drummers use. Funk+Energy is amazing.

@Neivlak Awesome info man, where did you hear that?
@Neivlak13 жыл бұрын
@liam2x4 i know this is a bit of a late response but that portion of Burden was actually a demo of a song that darren made in one night while they were writing the first album. its amazing but it didnt really make the final cut i guess. there were alot of amazing sounding stuff they were working on that got scrapped and i partially blame their producer of the 2nd album.

Typical Producers always using "its all about the song" argument!. I think some bands need producers and some dont, this band clearly does not. They better self produce their next record, thats all I am gonna say...
