I kick myself for not having caught every single concert after that, even in neighboring states, the hours drive would have been worth it. THEY WERE SO MAGIC LIVE!!! man, to go from leading a band like Mutemath, then experience defection of musicians, the break-up of the band and the subsequent loss of a giant creative outlet, that’s just a huge loss. i can’t imagine the depression that would descend on an artist of Paul’s caliber after losing all of that. i’m guessing that he can’t NOT make his music. he has too much talent to be denied a proper outlet for it. i’m glad he’s doing this solo thing. the band was killer. this is also killer.

I'm pretty dang sure all that separates the top 1% is that they put more time in it than the rest of the 99%. That includes time with: Instruments: ear training, technique, improv Engineering: electrical engineering, mixing, gear, $$ Songwriting: theory, history (listen to everything) Lyrics: read philosophy and literature. And last have fun. If you think Paul has some kind of secret knowledge you're unnecessarily widening the gap.

Guys, he really DID play TWO keyboard parts on two different keyboards. He plays bassline and melody or bassline and chords, either way, much more complex than most left+right hand playing. There are parts where he really did play two melodic parts at once. Just listen and watch carefully at the same time. It's really crazy.
