It says L on it because it just keeps the RPMS high. I had a civic with a CVT with an S mode and L mode, S and L were basically the same thing, but S had fake shifts, and L didn’t. It was generally faster to accelerate in L Edit: L stands for Low gear
@Mad_Rass.mk6gli2 жыл бұрын
The “S/L” mode actually is not a sport mode. Based off real life cars you look in the manual it’s actually used for engine braking. And it’s relayed pretty well in the game. You accelerate in “d” and hit the brake after getting off the gas the rpm’s drop significantly. In “S” mode if you hit the brakes after getting off the gas the trans adjusts the ratio to keep rpms high while slowing down since and there’s your engine brake using vacuum and resistance with a closed throttle at high rpm
@oldskool19772 жыл бұрын
*CVT* systems are one of the more advanced technologies that have been devised within the past few decades and are nothing to sneeze at! Infact, the CV transmission technology on its own merit is a genius idea, as it will inevitably choose the absolute best gear within an almost infinite amount of torque converting gear ratio's, in comparison with a conventional automatic or even a manual gearbox, where all you have is a very limited amount of gears to choose from and either you or the car will need to compromise upon a certain gear, a gear that isn't exactly perfectly ideal, but is somewhat of a compromise in between what is the correct amount of torque required vs the correct amount of actual speed needed and especially all in conjunction with the least amount of fuel that needs to be used in order to perform a certain minimum amount of work. But it will always remain a compromise, never an ideal gear ratio. This is where the CVT shines and is completely different to any and all of its predecessors in that it will _always_ choose the absolute best gear ratio for whatever the road conditions dictate at the time. It also is a massive fuel saver vs traditional transmissions! By the way, the way that BeamNG makes CVT look and sound is not correct whatsoever! In fact, I have CVT technology inside of my 2014 Toyota Prius C and it does NOT need to rev right out to 6,000rpm in order just to move!! In fact, in reality , it is the complete opposite in that all you need to do to take if in a CVT driven vehicle is to just feather the accelerator and it will begin changing an almost infinite amount of gears within seconds, and all your revving at is around 1,500 - 2,000rpm Max! So, don't let ANYBODY fool you into thinking that CVT technology is only for Mopeds and slow, old grandmothers!! In fact, it is being used in modern luxury and supercars more and more lately, until it will exclusively be used within all vehicles with petrol and diesel engines in the future one day. THAT is how good CVT _actually_ is.
@shorts_tok_.2 жыл бұрын
right, you're sooo right, I have an audi a4 b6 from 2003 1.9 tdi 130hp with a multitronic (CVT) 6speed gearbox (you can drive it manual where it has the 6speed which is fun to use) but overall the car is performing really really good, I mean it does 0-60 in 8 seconds which is terribly good for a 130hp engine, and obviously if I don't slam the gas pedal it has a really good fuel economy!!!! I won't sell this car until it dies horribly, but I do make sure that it won't die ever, I take good care of it :)

I love my car with CVT but it’s the drone that confuses people and/ or turns them off. I was accelerating on the highway and my friend screamed: “SHIFT UP, SHIFT UP!!” He thought I put it in Low Gear or something.
@emerycottle31664 жыл бұрын
CVT transmissions make the engine work at it's optimal rpm based on driving conditions. You want it to work for best fuel economy, you can do that. Want a performance tune? You can do that. CVTs are indeed optimized for performance. Keeping the engine at the maximum power point while under heavy load is actually the fastest way to accelerate, even if it might sound a little boring. Shifting through fixed gear ratios just wastes time and forces the engine to run in ranges of the power band where it does not produce maximum power.
