특별히 법륜사 연수국장 혜운스님이 잘 안내해 주셨습니다.
법륜사는 만일결사 수행도량이며, 템플스테이를 운영하고 있고, 선원에서는 비구니 스님들이 참선 정진하고 있는 도량입니다.
비구니 원로스님이셨던 무아당 상륜스님께서 창건한 사찰입니다. 백두산 홍송으로 전각을 지었으며, 아자형 대웅전과 대웅전 본존불은 규모와 예술성이 뛰어납니다.

I would like to introduce Beopryunsa Temple with English subtitles to foreigners. Nice to meet you. I'm here at Beopryunsa Temple in Yongin today. It is a magnificent and beautiful temple with a large Buddhist temple. Here is a monk from the training center to introduce the temple. I am the director of the Temple Stay Training Bureau at Beopryunsa Temple, and I am Hyewoon, the distinguished disciple of the Temple founder. You can meet the stairs at the entrance of Beopryunsa Temple. There's this phrase written on the center of stairs. “Beopryunsa Temple of ten thousand days prayer event. Let's all be Buddha. Let's be happy Buddhists. 2014. 8. 17” The monk, the founder of the temple, built the site here since 1996 and started a civil engineering project. In the 10th year, on November 6, 2005, the Dharma meeting of temple foundation day was held. On August 17, 2014, the abbess Hyeonam began to have a celemony of reciting the Lotus Stura during 10 thousand days in order to uphold and develop the maintenance of the founder of Beopryunsa Temple. The hall in front of you is Daeungjeon Hall. Daeungjeon Hall looks different from other temple’s Daeungjeon Hall. Especially noteworthy is Daeungjeon Hall, built in the cross shape of the Chinese character “亞”. As Buddha's teachings spreaded far into the last realm, this is Daeungjeon Hall dreams of the mind that all those who came to this temple complete their performance and enlightenment and that all dreams achieved smoothly. The roofs of the east, west, north, and south are close together, so rainwater can leak in the contact surface of roofs, so there is ‘Jeolbyeongtong’ that fills the gap in the contact surface of roofs. # Jeolbyeongtong: It is a top-shaped decoration tile built in the center of the roofs. The golden tower built on the site of Jeolbyeongtong. Six lotus flowers are hanging, and eight petals supported below. So six lotus flowers symbolize the Six Paramitas, and eight pedals symbolize the Eight Branches of the Holy Path, and a round tray at the top of the golden tower symbolize classes of rebirth in the Land of Utmost Bliss and you can see crystal beads on the top of golden tower. The founder monk of Beopryunsa Temple, said that in the future, the Bhikshuni’s asceticism and missionary work will become more active. So she told me to study a lot, and to practice asceticism on the big temple. The previous temple was a small in scale. So the monk said she wanted a place where the car would come into the temple yard, and she would like have a spacious temple where she could practice asceticism the whole day. One day, while she was practicing asceticism, she fell into the illusion of seeing a mountain. She wondered why she was in the woods, and a spring was gushing out on one side of woods. A blue dragon suddenly rose from the spring water and spewed water, and from there, white-clad Avalokiteshvara came out and told her to build a temple here. About six months after that, she came to a village of Wonsan-myeon, and it was a place she saw in her illusion. The name of the mountain near the village is Munsusan mountain, and there was a temple called Munsusa Temple during the Goryeo Dynasty. And there was a mineral spring here from a long time ago. Listening to the stories of Munsusan and Munsusa from the local people, she knew that this was the best place to build a temple because it was the same name as Manjusri. She came here looking for a mineral spring and found that it looked like the place she saw in her illusion. She built a dragon pavilion right on the water of the Blue Dragon. The middle letter of the name of Yongsugak Pavilion does not mean of water, but a urine of the dragon. Children laugh by hearing the name of dragon's urine. Monk Hyewoon! We're inside the Daeungjeon Hall. The court is magnificent and beautiful. Please explain one by one. Daeungjeon Hall Buddha is majestic. To create a statue of Buddha, we brought a high quality granite called ‘Hwang Deungseok’ to Iksan of North Jeolla Province. Buddha statue made out of granite and it was carved by a human cultural asset. The statue in the middle is Sakyamuni Buddha. The main Buddha statue which is three times as big as the one in Seokguram Grotto. The one who rode the lion is the symbol of wisdom, Manjushri. The person who rode the elephant is the symbol of action and vow, Samantabhadra. There is no Hanging Scroll behind Buddha. There's a halo sculpture behind you. The halo sculpture replaces the Hanging Scroll. It means that you can see the two Buddhas during preaching the Lotus Stura. If you look at the Dabotap Pagoda and Seokgatap Pagoda of Bulguksa Temple, you will remember the story of two Buddha statues in the Pagoda chapter of Lotus Stura. So we enshrined two Buddha statues in the halo sculpture instead of Hanging Scroll. According to the Pagoda section in Lotus Stura, when Buddha Sakyamuni was preaching the Buddhist Sutra at Yeongchisan Mountain, the Buddhist pagoda of Dabo Buddha rose up, proving that Buddha Sakyamuni's words were true and praising them, and the Buddha Sakyamuni sits with Dabo Buddha together. Dabo Buddha: The group of Buddhas. The Buddha was too big to come inside Hall, so we took him outdoors and built a Buddhist temple. Buddha's lips are so vivid and beautiful. It is painted with natural material that doesn't erase easily. The workers brought Buddha in a big truck, and They put sand in it, and they brought him here without a small scratch. The four pillars of Daeungjeon Hall have the meaning of supporting the entire universe. The four pillars means east, south, west, and north, and the direction is the same even with the actual compass. There are four garudas at the top of the four pillars. They are the guardian god of heaven, lotus and Buddhist birds are well supported. The ceiling of the hall is so beautiful. When Buddha preaches, it means flowers falling from the sky. Kartikeya, which is the center of gods, has been enshrined separately. Kartikeya who leads 100 gods of the protection of the Buddha-dharma. This is the altar which enshrined thousand Buddhas. Sakyamuni Buddha, Avalokitesvara, and Ksitigarbha are enshrined. These Buddhas are all beings of Mahayana, meaning future Buddha. The man who made Manjushri statue of Sangwonsa Temple created the thousand Buddhas. Under Munsusan Mountain, which houses the Maae Stone Buddha of the Goryeo Dynasty, there is the Daeungjeon Hall of Beopryunsa Temple. Daeungjeon Hall of Beopryunsa Temple is a complex building with the meaning that the Buddha's truth should spread like that, just as a stone is thrown into a calm pond, built in the cross shape of the Chinese character “亞”. The main Buddha of Daeungjeon Hall is the world's largest stone Buddha enshrined in the pavilion. The roof and mural of Daeungjeon Hall are really beautiful. There is a painting of the ten ox-herding pictures above the mural outside the Daeungjeon Hall and a painting of depicting Buddha's life story below the mural.

A wooden Amitabha Triad Buddha statue is enshrined in the hall. Avalokitesvara is located on the left side of the Amitabha Buddha in the middle, and Ksitigarbha is located on the right side. Happy Buddha is the incarnation of Maitreya Bodhisattva. I feel like I'm on my way to the world of paradise. I see the mural that Bodhisattva as guide of souls leads to the heavenly world. The painting of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and ten Underworld Kings is a 10-panel of the embroidery work, modeled after Daewonsa Temple's painting of ten Underworld Kings for three years by Choi Jeong-in, the head of the royal embroidery department who won the Presidential prize. The embroidery work, embroidered with care, is elegant, grand and splendid. It looks like a picture of how sophisticated the embroidery is. In the Bell Pavilion, there are four Buddhist instruments at the temple for the Buddhist services: a Dharma drum, a cloud-shaped brass, a wooden fish-shaped gong, and a great bell. I want to wish to save of all beings through the sound of things. The hall is the best Seon Monastery of Beopryunsa Temple. The total size of building is 3024 sq ft with 1908 sq ft of room size. It is purely built with red pines of Baekdusan Mountain and can practice asceticism 24 hours a day. The annex is 6984 sq ft in the upper and lower floors, which is a living quarters of monks. Now monks are practicing asceticism. Next to it is the Shrine of Patriarchs. And there's Avalokitesvara Hall. The Gwaneumjeon Hall is 1908 sq ft, and all the parts except rafters use red pines of Baekdusan Mountain to show the style of double eaves with the outer five brackets and the inner seven brackets. The main Buddha in the hall is Avalokitesvara. There is a three-story stone pagoda in front of Avalokitesvara Hall. The pagoda is Gyeonggi-do Cultural Heritage Material No. 145. It has been moved from the house of Master Lee Dukmoon in Guro-dong, Seoul. It is a typical stone pagoda that inherits the style of Unified Silla stone pagoda. This is the inside of Gwaneumjeon Hall. The mural inside Gwaneumjeon Hall created by storytelling for the contents of 25th section of Lotus Stura, which produced by the abbess Hyeonam. Aksayamatir Bodhisattvah is asking about Avalokitesvara. This is the king Sakra. Also the supernatural guardians of the Buddha-dharma who are Garuda and Kimnara. There is the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokiteshvara. It means that if you pray to Avalokitesvara earnestly, you will be saved when you meet difficult things. That's what happens. This is the image of male young Sudhana and female young Sudhana. This is a picture of Avalokitesvara is holding a baby. Many people who want children pray. The Hanging Scroll has replaced it with a section of the Gateway to Every Direction of the Goddess of Mercy from the Lotus Sutra. It is praising the prestigeous power of Avalokitesvara. If you look in the middle of the Avalokitesvara Hall, there are three Avalokitesvaras who are smaller than the building. The Avalokitesvara at the center was created by a Buddhist named Bo Hyunsim. The Avalokitesvara on the left is from the Sudeoksa Temple, which was enshrined by the Buddhist Monk Mangong who was in Sudeoksa Temple. The Avalokitesvara on the right is a Bodhisattva who has served since its foundation. The reason for the construction of the Shrine of Patriarchs is that only the Buddhist monks are enshrined. The temple founder disappointed that Bikkhunis were not enshrined in the Shrine of Patriarchs. It is meaningful that it is the first Shrine of Vikkhunis. The rafters of the Shrine of Patriarchs were pines of a mountain in Gangwon-do, and the rest of the parts from red pines of Baekdusan Mountain. The Shrine of Patriarchs has a size of 900 sq ft. with a gable roof. This is the founder of Beopryunsa Temple, Vikkhuni Sangryun is my teacher. This is Vikkhuni Beophee, my elder Buddhist monk. Vikkhuni Beophee did hope that the prestige of the Vikkhunis would continue and complete for a long time. You've been with me so far, and I've been able to look around every corner with your detailed guidance. Thank you very much! I thought it was a temple that contains the efforts of many people and the efforts of the founder of the temple. Beopryunsa Temple is ten thousand days prayer temple. They also manage temple stay. Vikkhunis practice asceticism in the Seon Monastery. It would be nice to visit Beopryunsa Temple, where we pray, perform, and preach. Thank you for accompanying me on a beautiful temple trip today. 고맙습니다 무여스님 스님 덕분에 아름다운 사찰순례에 함께 할 수 있게 되어 무척 기쁩니다 이번 순례지인 법륜사는 어느 해에 딱 한 번 참배했었습니다 그런데 이렇게 법륜사의 창건 내력과 대웅전을 위시한 전각에 대하여 설명을 들으며 다시 한 번 참배하니 감회가 깊습니다 앞으로 무여스님과 함께 할 사찰순례도 기대됩니다 스님 늘 법체 청안하시길 맘 모읍니다

우리가 알고 있고 많이 접하는 오래된 고찰과는 연륜이 쪼금 적은 사찰이라서 약간의 아쉬움이 있지만 현대적인 건축미를 바탕으로.. 나름 아름다움도 갖추고 있어 색다른 사찰의 모습을 볼 수 있어 좋았습니다.

2년전이지만 모자(비니)를 안써서 그런지 많이 어려보이세요..(예의가 없는 말인가요.^^;;) 그리고 약간 걱정되는게 몸하고 머리하고 일직선이 되어야할텐데 스님은 머리가 몸보다 좀 앞쪽으로 나가 계신거같아요. 거북목 그런게 걱정됩니다. 지금은 괜찮으신지요. 약간 의식하시면서 고치시는게 건강을 위해서 좋을거같아요. 절은 다른 절보다 화려하다는 느낌이 들어요. 모양도 화려하고 색감도 좀 진한듯하구요. 지금은 안가지만 10년전쯤에 일때문에 종로에 있는 조계사에 몇번가봤는데 그곳 내부보다 법륜사 내부가 좀더 화려하고 웅장한 느낌이 들어요. 감기 조심하시고 마지막 인사는 볼때마다 귀여우시네요.
