Lalelang guys. I just walked out on a deal where I was offered 17% interest rate. If it wasn’t for Muzi believe you me I would have fallen for that nonsense of a deal. The only thing people care about is the instalment. As for how that came about they don’t care. For now I’ll do happy walking till my credit score is better. Thank you Muzi for the content

Ey Dr Sambo this video of yours scared me shame😂. As someone who's looking to buy a used car as my first car in the next 4 months I'm nervous manje after this video. Ok here's the full story... So I started watching your content about a year ago. It was very informative especially since I'm interested in buying a car. I used as much of your teachings as I could. I set a budget that I can reasonably afford(R160000), I did my research and learned of the common faults and issues with my car of choice(2014-2016 Renault Clio 0.9L turbo Dynamique with panoramic roof) I was patient in looking for the right deal, finding the right car, in the right spec(must have the panoramic roof lol) with the right mileage, at the right price. I even made a short list and studied them for the past couple of months, watching for price decreases and availability. I'm planning on using this car mostly for my commute to and from work but also as a side hustle. I want to start a lift club with my colleagues. They pay me and I transport them. The money I get from them will go towards my installment hence the strict budget. So they will pay off my car while I cover insurance and fuel from my pocket. I already have "clients" interested in this lift club so nje everything is sorted. I just need to get the car. Manje I wanted to know from you, Muzi or anyone else in the comments if y'all think it's a good idea or not. I mean buying a car is always risky but I thought of most of the problems I would face and came up with solutions for them. So I just wanted to know if you have any words of advice for me on my little business plan. Thank you🤙🏾....

"The truths people do not want to hear" is awesome. It is important for people to hear these truths, even if they do not want to hear them. Thank you for the great, but more importantly HONEST content. A little tip I have found is that when sales people lie to you and tell you that the car was driven by an "old white man/woman". Just tell them that they need to replace the clutch then because older people are more likely to drive heavily on the clutch. You will see those sales people backpaddle.

Advise those wanting second-hand cars. I believe the Japanese are second to non especially Toyota (if you can afford it), Honda and Mazda. even if it has 300 000Km you are likely to get value for money than with any other brands. My Honda is with over 250 000Kms and zero engine issues.

Great content Muzi. When I buy a used car, I check for fault with a OBDII car scanner before and after test drive. You are right some people will clear codes to hide latent defects although after few miles of driving cleared code are likely to resurface. Although these days I try to buy second hand lemons from the OEM, as a mitigated risk assessment, at least there it will be covered by Consumer protection Act.

Mine is 2009 1.6 titanium, bought with overheating problem that I returned to dealership twice, but no solution except that I can now handle it with AC. It had 232k km on the clock, and now it's a broken and parked in my garage due to accident at 302k. I only regret not having an insurace. I bought it because I performed much better than 3 models that I tested from "my brother" claiming it's accident free while it's clear they failed to fix the dents. All in all, I regret not having an insurance. The car was R62k and I bought it cash.

I was paying comprehensive insurance for my 15 year old ford until I sold it. With car insurance need to phone a couple of companies before you take an offer. Muzi is 100% correct Terms and Conditions in insurance contracts are very important. If you take comprehensive insurance that should include all the bells and whistles: damages during protests, natural disasters, accidental damages, 3rd party coverage. Is the value of the car covered under retail value or book value? If the insurance states your car requires a tracking device because it's high risk or if they reduce the premium because you have a tracking device ask them this very important question: If the vehicle is stolen and it can not be tracked because the tracking device is faulty will you still pay me out? why ask this question? Most insurance companies have a policy that if the tracking device is not in working order and the car is stolen they will not pay you out at all or they will pay you a percentage of what the car was worth. Problem with such a clause you can never know when the tracking device fails and it's not your job to ensure the device is working 24/7. Always ask for the insurance contract and then make an informed decision. If you take a low car insurance coverage don't expect much out of it.

I sold my i10 grand back to ford. Got 6k back after paying for 4 years and barely making a dent and my instalments went up to almost 3k a month with linked interest. I bought a scooter now and although it sucks riding in the rain I can spring for an Uber on those days and I’m saving 3000 a month + 1500 on fuel. My friend also bought an i10 grand but he saved for 4 years instead of finance and bought his cash while I still had over 120 000 to pay back… THAT was my eye opener 😭

Insurance is an absolute necessity! Why we are given an option in this country is beyond me! I've traveled around a bit and car insurance is mandatory in practically every developed country. If you are too cheap, then get the cheapest ones like Naked Insurance. If it's still too much then get only 3rd party cover. That way you don't have to stress about hitting another car and having to repair THEIR damage. You only have to worry about your own car. I would even argue that a tracking device is another must-have if you live in SA, but that will open up another can of worms. For me personally the first things I do after buying a car is to get the vehicle inspected for insurance and have the car fitted with a tracking device ASAP. Gives me peace of mind.

For a car older than 20 years (unless it's a collectors edition, example - BMW E30 325is) its no use paying for insurance, as most insurances won't offer full comprehensive cover. Eventually you are slowly paying for a deposit on a later model car. Same with a cellphone. If you cover your new Samsung Galaxy S23, insurance is R350 a month, after 24 months, you should cancel as you are now paying the same price of a new phone.

I am still driving a 1986 VW Jetta CSX sedan with 299,000km. Nothing wrong with the car except it being old (no airbags, no power steering etc) but in very good condition and reliable. I still pay for comprehensive insurance and have no problem getting it insured by insurance companies. I would never consider not being insured for a vehicle even if mine has never caused an accident so far. The car is 37 years old. I am only now starting to look at a replacement as power steering and normal up to date safety features would be great. However, the prices are much higher for used cars than I expected and I am despondent about finding something like a VW Polo or Suzuki Swift for just over R100,000 without crazy mileage as everything is a lot more.

I know the executive that you're referring to, and I was also shocked and taken aback when she made those comments. Coming from a 'peoples' brand, you would think that they will be more understanding of pricing in our market, especially when fully imported vehicles are offering much better value than their locally produced models, which don't have to travel halfway across the world (and have taxes added along the way). Her reasoning of not reducing prices because people already paid these high prices, is not sustainable in my opinion, as people will eventually look for better valued products (if they haven't already started), and this over priced car that they sell will eventually be a niche model (and no longer a people's car)......

It makes sense from a business perspective. You don't want people to think that the new price might go down in X months because that might result in a decline in sales long-term -- you want to secure the sale as soon as possible. She just shouldn't have said it out loud. 😂😂 VW is overpriced and people should choose the best product and not what will get them the most street cred. They know they can ask any price and the customers will still come.

Hi Dr Muzi, please please review the Mazda CX3 auto model preferably, I have my eyes on it for my next car and it is competing against the Cherry Tiggo (liked it from your review). Also anyone with similar experience with the Mazda, let me know as i will truly appreciate your comments and insight.

In need of advice for a friend. He has a car under finance for 10 months now. The car has been in and out of dealerships with various issues, it was a trade in when he bought it at 78k km's. I asked him to get a settlement letter and see if he can sell the car on webuy cars. What's the full procedure here? I don't think he'll afford to trade it in as he hasn't reached at least 3 year ownership otherwise his settlement vs car value is not on par. He may end up with a big chunk of loan amount when transferred to the new yet to be decided car.

Lol I recently got a polo vivo and found out the rear speakers are not working. The previous owner also had after market sound. Y'all are killing us Muzi, but better a sound defect than a mechanical one. I just hate that now I have to fix the connection without contravening any warrantee, not even sure if the warrantee can cover this repair😏
