This for me the 2500 is a classic MPC. With JJOS it has the right balance of functionality, easy of use, build quality, sound quality, storage and fun to use. Sure, it doesn't sound like a 3000, but a 3000 doesn't have grid edit, chord memory, non destructive chop, USB connectivity, or large Flash storage. I predict this machine will double in price over the next few years, and will be on par with a 3000 in 5 years time.

You pretty much said it all, I agree with you. It retains the best of the old and combines with modern. Thumbs up!

Because its in between the older Akai models and the new ones (x,live, etc) I think it’ll only be as much as maybe what a 2000xl is today

I completely agree with this! I’ve been wanting this machine for 8 years now & I just bought the MPC 2500 LE #408 The 2500 sings, and I’m glad that there are beat makers still using it today!

bought the Mpc 2500 SE last year as my first mpc. Running jjos, Its a solid sequencer & sampler and i personally like the built in ‘eq’ and ‘compressor’ effect options in the master fx menu, the filtering is decent and the q-links are nice to work with too.. even has LFO and u can change sound envelope shape. Dont regret buying
@muzixco3 жыл бұрын
Yes overall it's got the right mix of features, the built-in compressor is no joke.

Great review, very relevant in 2021 Last jjos update is just from february. Usb connectivity, big hard drive, modern but still oldschool workflow, that is best of both worlds for me. Only bad thing is the filter
@muzixco3 жыл бұрын
Really this unit does have the best of both worlds, modern and classic, the things that it does lack on are not deal breakers by any means.

The short answer is f**k yes. The very short answer is yes. The 2500 has travelled halfway across the globe with me, seen studios, live shows, train stations, cafes, you name it. Scratched up and worn well, still an absolutely trustworthy unit. Whatever technical limitations it has, it only force you to be more ingenious about what you're doing.

What’s up fam, thank you for the video & all the comments on here. I’m coming from a maschine background, have the 3 MK’s but wanted to pick up an MPC. I’m looking at a 2500 right now, my question to all users is, what’s the learning curve on these? Just don’t want to buy a piece of gear that will sit there.. thanks ahead.
@muzixco3 жыл бұрын
The learning curve is not bad, there are more features than the older MPCs, but each pad is marked with a function accessible with the mode button. Fairly straight forward, go for it!

The 2500 uses a pretty standard drive for the time.Unlike the 5000 which is super expensive.Probs get for for a tenner…

I have it and while i love it overall it really disappoints me when i try to use the filters. Filters are just the shittiest in the game.

Agreed, it's not S900 level filter but... at least it has one. ;-)

ditch the hard drive and get an IDE to SD card adapter

No need for that as the unit already has a compact flash adapter built in.
