I was lucky enough to see Sting perform this winter album in Paris about 14 years ago.... He had a wonderful orchestra backing him that night. Has anyone ever created anything more magical than this? I find myself listening in the winter months, then revisiting again in the middle of summer. It's incredibly mesmerizing. Sting is TIMELESS and what he creates here is a magical wintertime of crackling fires, gray days, leafless branches bearing a dusting of snow, and songs in minor keys. I'm about to knit and drink hot tea, all the while enjoying this gorgeous season locked away in the warmth of my home.

If you want a little consolation about your dad’s death read Julian of Norwich ‘ all will be well and all will be well , and all manner of things shall be well ‘. Her book is called ‘ Revelations of Divine Live ‘. Despite her name she WAS a woman and a medieval anchorite ! Take care, Sarah.

I still remember the wintry Sunday when for the first time I listened to all the tracks of the album "If on a Winter's Night...", here in KZbin. I was in a forlorn mood that day and looked for some music - which could lift up my spirits - and found that album. It changed the way I see and feel winter. My homeland is Brazil and albeit all the years I've lived in Germany, it took a long time not just to get used to winter but, actually, love it. Of course, I loved to see snow falling down and how it covered the landscape the way is displayed in so many postcards and calendars, nevertheless the bitter cold along with the long months of winter always had been difficult for me. It was with great attention and awe I listened to all the tracks of the album and couldn't wait to buy the CD. I remember going out on Monday and looking at the trees heavy with snow, a field nearby cold and covered with iridiscent white and caught myself considering winter with entirely different eyes. I bought the CD and read Sting's statement about it. I like very much the way he approaches the wintry season, by now I can identify with much he has said. It goes without saying that now I love winter and go often outside, marvelling at the scenes offered and photographing inspiring images. That shows how much this real musical artwork impressed me. I'm impressed still.

So do I. Sting is the bard, the poet, the singer, the musician, reminds me of John Dowland. He's so great!

I loved this album so much I took it everywhere with me, especially driving up the cold mountains, and I eventually lost the CD. Haven't listened to it properly again since, but today is Xmas day of 2021 and I thought about it while driving. My servant who is sitting in the passenger seat, an old Thai man from the province, was mesmerized and fell in love with the sound he was hearing through this video immediately. We are not even Christian, but we can understand the winter spirit through his music. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

Stings music has followed me through my life since 1979. Its many faces seamlessly (sometimes less) passing through time as we all must. Always like a enthusiastic hand shake from an often absent friend. A little melancholy but none the less enjoyed.

@epictracksaudiorick602 5 years ago One of the most stunning performances I have ever witnessed! Every nuance and detail was masterfully conveyed by every Artist on that stage! Absolute Perfection! Thank you Sting for your shining brilliance and always ensuring the essence of the music has centre stage! Such a good comment I am reposting it. From 5 yrs ago 🤓👍🦸♂🕺🐼

What a treasure! I'm so glad to have rediscovered this, especially in this so difficult 2nd winter season of the Pandemic which makes it sometimes so hard to find joy, even amongst all the loss and loneliness. Old and new music brings joy and heals us all.

Theres something about Sting coming back to his roots having had such worldwide fame and success and ran as fast as he could to leave where he came from and to get away from all the limitations he felt being brought up there and everything he didn't want to be,theres somehting about coming back to ones roots to see things a new and appreciate them in a different way and this is a beautiful way to do it.
