Hard to explain but spiritually I feel at home. I also feel like I can see stories and destinies, of people and communities, I can see the sorrow, and I can see the joy. Music like a living string, or string of life. The classic version is also very beautiful :). p.s. central and eastern Europe do have some unique precious things to add to the world for sure.

I happen to like both Hungarian and Romanian folk music--and even saw Muzsikás and Márta Sebestyén perform in Boston. A couple of months ago, I was in Transylvania, in the town with the highest elevation in Romania. As I walked up a winding road into the Carpathians, I saw all these places with hunting motifs, not to mention signs in Romanian warning about bears. I couldn't help thinking of Bartok's mythical masterpiece, "The Enchanted Stags."
@MrQ454

the town with the highest elevation in Romania is Predeal and is not in Transylvania (was not ever), there was the border between Transylvania and Wallachia!
@lovettboston
@lovettboston 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrQ454 Thanks for the correction. I was thinking of the larger historical region, with a southern border somewhere between Brasov and Sinaia. I did spend some time in Predeal and, as an outsider in the company of Romanians, I was struck there by what seemed signs of cultural overlaps--including a procession of people in traditional costumes and flags from Hungary, Serbia and Ukraine. I know there's also a difference between the power that rules a given territory and the mix of inhabitants--and that Romanian presence here predates any other part of the mix that's identifiably present today.
@MrQ454

Szpektakulárosz!! :) Do you ask what is the difference between classical and folk musician?? For a folk musician - 3 strings is more than enough.. :D Seriously - this is really something, and it makes me cry (both sad and happy/proud tears). I come from the family with a huge folklore music tradition in Moravia - generations of folk song collectors, singers, musicologists from the east-part region of Czech rep., very close from Slovakia / Hungary, but now I live already for a couple years in western Europe, and deep inside myself, I am struggeling a lot because I am mostly surrounded by people who have nothing like we can see on this video - a true traditions in their blood. Maybe they are "rich and socialy well secured", but they are SOOOOOOO empty... Anyway, this is not a music.. This is a pure celebration of human-being.
