👋 Hello, many thanks for this video you bring to us as a gift 🎁. I’ve got a question about how many data storage space can be supported on the CF-Card by the MV8800. I remembered years before, I tried to adapt a 256GB Hard Drive on my MV unsuccessfully (I know it’s limited to 128GB). Do you think is there a way to have 2 hard drives installed on the MV8800? Or 2x 128GB CF card reader installed?
@theMIDImaniac4 жыл бұрын
Jeanlouis COQUIN hi! Thanks for dropping a question. Well, 128GB is indeed possible. I have tried 2x HDD but that didn’t work because the MV doesn’t work like a computer. But with the CF installed you can hit swap between different 128GB cards so I think that will be the solution. Or is there an explanation why you would need 256GB+? Huge amount of samples? 😁

Hi roger, I also have the same cf to ide from startech, but I read in the manual that you need to power off the adapter before inserting or removing the cf card. Looks like my mv does not refresh/detect the card when I take it out and put it back again. I need to power the mv off and on. Let me know, thx.

Hi Bas (Dutch too? Bas is a typical Dutch name ;-) You mean my CF-microSD adapter? Perhaps that makes the difference instead of a normal CF-card? Sometimes my MV doesn't read the files immediately. is there a possibility to retrofit a SP-808 with a CF Cardreader ?
@theMIDImaniac5 жыл бұрын
There's only one CF-reader which will work with the SP-808. It's the one from the blue MPC 2000-XL. No other reader will work. I've seen a SP-808 with this reader + OP1-expansion for sale for 400€. It would be nice but I'm not going to spend that much money.

That’s great but what about using chicken audios software with a computer to load your samples it’s 1000000 x faster than that method.....the mv 8800 is a wonderful machine I love it for its sound quality but hey man my issue is the quantizing.i know this machine claims to have 100’s of modes for quantizing but I honestly could not get a solid and perfect times beat quantize out of this machine. Tell me what went wrong?????

sergio simpson Hi! Thanks for your comment. Ah...chicken system...I’m having deep contact with them because the program fails on many points. I’m working with V2. I hope to show some progress soon. Regarding quantise I’m curious which kind of issues you have because it should be super duper tight.

This is a interesting conversation you made me pull that box out the closet but man it’s soooooo slow it’s ridiculous but I love that analog sound that’s definitely what’s missing these days.....so first off that software works great and works instantly just like a computer based daw like fl would and you can create and design your own kits and save them but when making beats with those machines the quantizing jumps off badly or won’t even record like I played it and it throws the whole track off beat.i never could figure out why....o yeah it seems like you can’t use multiple time signatures.i don’t do hip hop I’m from the south we don’t really sample everything is from scratch if I want to do different rolls it’s out of the question making this machine useless when it comes to production

oooohhhh k! Is there any way I can pay you to make another video-for-dummies outlining the exact materials, where to buy them, and the steps for doing this, FOR DUMMIES? I have changed drives on my VS recorders but that's simple. Same hoook ups one drive to the next.Please remember I have no computer expertise at all.

With all do respect, you should have slowed down the footage, it’s hard to follow your steps, thanks for sharing!

Sorry about that. It's an easy job. Seriously. Just open your MV, take out the drive, add the CF-drive and place the CD on another area. Secure all and close it up. Then start the MV and let the MV create the right folders and your good to go. Really an easy modification. Hope this helps.

Not that great killing the cd reap sampling burning back-up cd master capabilities to add Cf card. I prefer to stick with an SSD and use an USB cable when need of computer transfer. Everybody his own I guess.

Ustaz Official Thanks for the comment! It’s a great solution for quicker transfer of files. I’ve never heard of the cd reap sampling etc. Could be interesting. Last week I had to open the MV to check something. Then I thought of searching for a long IDE cable to have the CF outside and to have the CD placed back. Then I would have the advantages of both worlds.
@theMIDImaniac5 жыл бұрын
Ustaz Official if the CD is used for backing up master then also the CF could be used. The Mastered WAV is available in its folder. Then you can convert into another format on a computer. But perhaps I’m missing something that I don’t know. Thanks again! ✌🏽

@@theMIDImaniac yes because I also listen my CDs straight on the MV. That's one of the reasons the Cd Reading/Reaping is priceless for me I use it alot when not using vinyls as a primary sources.

Ustaz Official that’s a technique I’ve never used but it sounds great and logic.
