Their theme here at this era was about the importance of the YOUTH. There's a line in that song that says "Live your life it's yours anyways, don't try too hard it's Ok to Lose" - They are telling the Youth of their generation that Losing means you're adjusting and growing not a deadend, they are saying that just party and be happy because goals cannot be achieve by just a one snap as Namjoon say "You can still be happy during the process of achieving something".

Dunno if you have noticed or not...but "YOUTH" was written behind them and it was lighted up with fire. This era of BTS was about "YOUTH". And they wanted to tell the youngsters that "IT'S OK TO LOSE". Losing means you are learning & it's not the end yet. They are telling us to be happy & have a party. As Namco on said "YOU CAN STILL BE HAPPY IN THE PROCESS OF ACHIEVING SOMETHING" .

bts really started gaining spotlight in the international industry with dope and fire, obviously since 2013 they actually made appearances on international charts. people used to call bts a flop, but in my opinion after seeing everything bts went through, i realized they were more manipulated than flops. fire was like bts giving a warning: “we are not going to leave here, we are going to dominate the whole world”. but it is also an incentive for young people to express themselves and not let the past generation bring them down. everyone likes this song, even those who don't like or know bts like and know this song. and also, i recommend you to watch The Rise Of Bangtan. is a documentary series that you don't just learn about bts, but about kpop, their journey in an industry manipulated by big3, how and why they stood out and achieved greater recognition outside korea than other korean artists. in addition to showing how they faced many barriers in the american industry.

It’s not that BTS is not that hungry or aggressive anymore. It just that pandemic happened. Their Map of the Soul album series were sidetrack because of the pandemic. They released Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance to have good vibes during this pandemic. Like the others commented here, you should read the lyrics to have a deeper meaning of their songs. Their 3 English songs were not supposed to happen. And the BE album was created during the pandemic.

The Forever Young era caught my attention when I first invested time into anything K-pop. I was straight out of high school at the time and had way too much energy on my hands. Though I didn’t really become a huge fan after the video, I’d constantly return to BTS to see how they were doing. (Now, I’m fully invested in whatever the hell they’re doing in terms of their well earned success.) Still, Fire will always be the literal height of what “youthful energy” sounds like to me.

I mean, BTS were already pretty big when this song came out, but I get what you're trying to say. They were definitely more aggressive in some of their songs in a way that they always felt they had something to prove as the underdogs of K-pop and how much hate they constantly got. I think now they're more comfortable in their own in a way that they know they've sort of made it I guess? They're still always going to say they'll work hard and they will but now I feel like the pressure to make it big is off. I'm so happy and proud for them

Just two things, you're half right about BTS being hungry, but they were also angry. BTS worked their way up trough hard work, determination and anger. Also, this is not really BTS in their early years here, it's already 3 years after their debut (Fire was released in 2016), early BTS is again something very different, you can check their debut MVs "No More Dream" and "We are bulletproof pt2", you'll see what young BTS really looked like (even more anger there xD)
