The number 1 track 'Settled Down' talks about themselves who can’t settle down, unlike the title name. The 2nd track ‘Comes and Goes’ shows the relationship they had since childhood up until now. They used to live abroad when he was little, and lives in Seoul now. The song shows how the people leave when they feel like they got to know them. Their favorite 5th track 'Hooka' shows the feelings that they felt about human relationship in a hugely changed setting in a blunt way. The passion to fill the life’s blank space that is created by non-working society and the wounds is shown in a musical experiment in a more pure way.

タイトルと異なって矛盾的にも定着することができない自分を歌っている1番トラック「Settled Down」と海外に住んでいた子供の頃からソウルに定着した今まで繰り返されている、慣れてきたら立ち去ってしまう人たちとその関係が浮き彫りにされた2番トラック「行き来する（Comes and Goes）」、そして今回のアルバムの中で、メンバーたちが最も愛着のあるナンバーとして挙げた5番トラック「Hooka」は、大きく変化した環境の中で、彼が人間関係について感じた感情が赤裸々に盛り込まれている。このように動作していない共同体による傷とそれによる人生の虚しさを埋めようとする熱望は、より純粋な方向の音楽的実験につながった。

제목과는 달리 모순적이게도 정착하지 못하는 자신을 노래하는 1번 트랙 [Settled Down]과 해외에 거주하던 어릴 적부터 서울에 자리 잡은 지금까지 반복되고 있는, 익숙해지려면 떠나가 버리는 사람들과 그 관계들이 부각된 2번 트랙 [와리가리(Comes and Goes)], 그리고 이번 앨범에서 멤버들이 가장 애착이 가는 넘버로 꼽은 5번 트랙 [Hooka]는 크게 변화한 환경 속에서 그가 인간관계에 대해 느낀 감정들이 적나라하게 담겨 있다. 이처럼 작동하지 않는 공동체로 인한 상처와 그로 인한 삶의 공터를 채우고자 하는 열망은 좀 더 순수한 방향의 음악적 실험으로 이어졌다.

이게 어떻게 9년전노래지

매스미디어 파급력은 정말 대단하다 느낀 게 요새는 어딜 가나 혁오 노래 나오더라. 혁오는 내가 기억하기로는 대충 작년 이맘때 쯤 인디판을 휘까닥 뒤집어 놓은 밴드였다. 당시 분위기는 '인디씬에 오아시스가 나타났다', '인디씬의 미래', '사이다같은 밴드' 등등 인디씬에서 가장 핫한 밴드로 혁오가 급부상하며 한바탕 난리가 났는데, 결국 매스미디어 전에는 다 찻잔 속 태풍이었나 하는 생각조차 든다. 인디음악의 아이러니는 인디가 '나만 아는 보물같은 아티스트'라는 점이 매력의 큰 부분을 차지한다는 거다. 매스미디어로 확 떠버리면서 '나만 아는 보물'이 아닌 '만인의 보물'이 된 밴드에겐 예전처럼 홍대 클럽에서 50명도 안되는 청중 한 명 한 명과 눈을 마주치고 교감하는 공연을 기대할 수 없다. 그들을 만나려면 최소한 어지간한 규모의 락페스티벌은 기다려야 하는데, 기껏 기다려도 예전같은 친밀함은 온데간데 없다. 다만 아티스트와 팬 사이라는 경계만이 철조망처럼 세워져 있을 뿐이다. 그러다보면 '이 밴드는 원래 나만 알고 있었는데,' '너희들(이번 경우에는 무도 시청자들)이 유입되면서 물이 탁해졌다,' 보다 극단적으로는 '너희는 계속 그냥 매스미디어나 핥아라,' 등등 이른바 '부심' 부리는 사람도 생기기 마련. 물론 좋아하는 인디가 파퓰러로 넘어가면서 느껴지는 묘한 박탈감은 인디 팬이라면 한두 번은 느껴봤을 거다. 나만 알고있던 경치 좋고 평온한 언덕이 어느날 갑자기 유명해져서 조잡한 기념품점이 가득한 관광지로 개발되는 느낌. 혹은 친하게 지내던 누군가가 닿을 수 없는 어느 곳으로 훌쩍 떠나고 나만 덩그러니 남은 느낌. 그런 심리가 나쁘게 발현되면 소위 '인디부심'이 되는 것이다. 그리고 그건 틀림없이 엇나간 팬심이다. 우스운 소유욕에 기반한 묘한 박탈감을 느끼면서도, 그럼에도, 아티스트가 '먹고 살려면' 파퓰러가 낫기에 찾아오는 안도감. 내가 사랑한 그 음악이 대중적으로도 인정을 받았다는 뿌듯함. 그들이 더 나은 환경에서 펼칠 음악에 대한 기대감. 동시에 그가 파퓰러로 넘어가더라도 대중의 취향에 얽매이지 않고 하던 음악을 소신있게 계속 하기를 바라는 조바심. 그런 한 마디로 형용하기 어려운 복합적인 감정을 느끼며, 오래된 팬과 오래된 아티스트는 함께 조금 더 성숙해 지는 법이겠지. 그러면서 또 어딘가에 숨어서 반짝이고 있을 원석같은 아티스트를 찾아 나서는 게 인디 팬들의 어쩔 수 없는 습성이고. 또 그런 인디팬이 있기에 그들이 매스미디어까지 이를 수 있었던 것이겠고.

juan lee K-indie is bigger than kpop in Korea. LOL In Busan and Seoul you would never hear kpop on the streets or restaurants or shops. You would only hear k-drama OSTs and indie music. Kpop is definitely bigger than indie internationally but not domestically. Same goes for students. There's only a small group of people that listen to k-pop. A lot of girls listen to it in middle school but grow out of it in high school. So... Wish granted?

+lizroman14 Artist make their own music and lyrics for example zion-t, crush, and beenzino. Idols don't write lyrics and make the music themselves the companies do. Sometimes some idols do make there own music and lyrics for there group for example Zico and Rap Monster.

I couldn't find a tiny info about them, so I thought about translating some to help future international fans. And I was like "These kids will become big, their style won't pass unnoticed." And I was right, after less than a year, Hyukoh became one of the most popular group in Korea. And it's spearing through the whole world. Go boys, you're doing some amazing work !
