Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat geen reet.
"Waarom deel je geen bootklussen?" vragen mensen mij. 'Daarom niet,' antwoord ik dan. Ik vind het niet leuk om te klussen, en als je bootklusjes wilt zien, dan kan ik heel veel andere kanalen aanraden die daar én lol in hebben én dat goed kunnen.
In deze video vertel ik over een boot-klus die resulteerde in een bezoek aan de werf.
In deze etappe richting de werf, passeren we een route die ik al in een aantal video's heb gedeeld, dus besloot ik een andere video te maken dan de reguliere. Geen zorgen, het normale formaat keert terug in de volgende video.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Hey Chris, Alles ok? Ik had Erik gevraagd waar hij goede ervaringen mee had, en toen noemde hij Altena. Ze hebben mijn verwachtingen ruim overtroffen. Dat bootje over de kaart is een app, en ja, ik doe alle editing zelf. Deze video ging snel, hier was ik in 18 uur mee klaar. Anderen nemen soms 30 uur in beslag. Veel plezier tijdens de binch-watch.

@@MVLadyLiselot Hier alles goed, alleen ook veel water om ons heen. We zitten nog net in het regenzeizoen en er zijn nog steeds overstromingen hier en daar als het even goed heeft geregend. Ik heb de app gevonden, origineel voor apple, voor android nog vrij nieuw met wat kinder ziektes lees ik in de reviews. Gaat toch veel tijd in zitten in dat editen, beeldmateriaal bij elkaar zoeken en selecteren, text overlay, special effects, achtegrond muziekje. Je wordt er wel steeds handiger in!

The crane did not feel the difference... I had only 350 liters left, needed some days to drive before I was at the yard and (most important) I had a discount when bunkering more then 1,000 liters.

Dag Henk-Jan, een sluis vraagje. Je legt je schip met 1 midden lijn vast, right. In een andere video zag ik dat je die lijn zelfs heel los hield, het schip kon een meter naar voren of naar achteren. Hoe ga je dan om met het water dat naar binnen kolkt als je voorin ligt? Die duwt je boeg dan toch om? Mvg Simon. PS dank voor de video’s, leerzaam!

Hallo Simon, het goede nieuws is dat je geen medaille krijgt voor hoe het schip in de sluis ligt. ;-) Vaak zie ik zeilers die met z'n 2e zijn met veel gedoe die boot lang de muur houden. Sommigen hoor je naar elkaar roepen. Ik heb 15 jaar deliveries gedaan van een X36, met een dik buikje en een middenlijntje op de lier was een oplossing om lekker te liggen. Tja, ik zal ook daar zeker geen medaille hebben gekregen voor de mooiste ligging in een sluis, but 'who cares'?. Met die attitude gaat het vaak al een stuk beter, Het gebeurt zelden dat het water naar binnen kolkt, maar mocht dat gebeuren dan zou je in dat geval zien dat ik een lijntje voor aan leg, of de middenlijn strekker aantrek. Lady Liselot is 15m lang, en met een lijntje in het midden kan ze niet veel uitwijken voordat ze de achterste fender tegen het muurtje drukt.

Hello Frazel, yes we have limits, 9km/h or 12km/h. But remember that if they have a speed of 9km/h and me too, we 'meet' each other at a speed of 18km/h, but at some points the bow wave does look as if they speed up.

Henk, ever thought of investing in a 360degree camera that we can control? Would make your "sailalong" vlogs so much more interesting. You pass some intriguing structures, vessels and houses that we only get a glimpse of. With a 360 that we can pan/tilt, we could choose what we would like to see most..

That's a funfactor for sure @@terryhoyle7043 . I have the 360 for 6 weeks now, did some nice trips already (storm 7 and 8bft at sea) and if I knew this then, I would have created to nice shots. The cars on the front or back of a barge are from the crew. They have a crane to lift ashore. Sometimes the barge has a crew that does 2 weeks onboard,1 week off and one has no idea where they moor to switch crew. So one needs a car to get back home. Or the barge is their home and the need transport like you and me.

The are PTZ IP camera's. They are connected to a router and I use a laptop + software (of course) to control them by a press of a button.

Hello Quetin, stop using the fixed focus cams, buy PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) instead. When you visit my channel kzbin.info, the video that starts automatically is my "welcome-to-the-channel"-video. In the description of that video, you find info on the "CCTV".

Wellicht ben ik al te lang weg uit Nederland, maar ik vraag me zo af wanneer je een strenge winter hebt en alle meren en kanalen zijn dichtgevroren? Hoe doe je dat op een live-aboard? Met name water tank en vuilwater tank. Lig je in een box met wal aansluiting? Waterkoeling voor de generator is ook een uitdaging neem ik aan? Misschien loopt het zo’n vaart niet (pun intended) maar hier ben ik gewoon hele dorpen aan fish houses (een soort van rij caravans met gaten in de bodem voor mini (30cm) hengeltjes) op de MN meren. Die dingen hebben alle gemakken, van satelliet tv, verwarming, keukens, slaapkamers en what-have-you. En je 2500kg pickup parkeer je right in front of your fish house on the ice. Zo af en toe fantaseer ik about terugkeer naar Nederland wannneer (if) ik met pensioen ga, en een live-aboard was altijd mijn goal totdat ik een Amerikaanse aan de haak sloeg (of sloeg ze mij aan de haak?).

Well... zoals jij het meemaakt, en zoals wij zien op TV channels als Discovery, dat maken wij in NL niet meer mee. In februari '21 hadden we ijs op de meren en werd er geschaatst en ge-ijs-zeild. Toen was er aan boord niets aan de hand. Afgelopen december '22 hadden we 2 weken ijs op de sloten, maar de meren lagen slechts half dicht. Bij mij aan boord gaat de kachel aan, de leidingen die langs de romp lopen, heb ik voorzien van warmtedraad (het materiaal dat men gebruikt voor vloerverwarming) en dat gaat 's nachts aan, om de leidingen niet te laten bevriezen. Maar de tijd dat de eskimos zich in Nederland op hun gemak voelden ligt volgens mij 100 jaar achter ons. ;-)

@@MVLadyLiselot Mijn tijd op mijn bootje, toerend door Nederland, was voor mij de meest stress-loze tijd van m’n leven. Ik daydream stiekem wel eens om na pensionering dat permanent te gaan doen. Are you allowed to use red diesel fuel in Holland?

Red diesel is in whole Europe only for farmers and commercial barges. Customs checks on a regular basis in marina's and on open water. The moment you bunkered red in the UK, you must have a invoice to proof, and if any doubt, you must pay VAT on all liters one can hold in the tanks + a fee.

@@MVLadyLiselot I saw a video with a huge kittylitter filter and it takes out the red die and turn the fuel colorless transparent again. Don't know if it's a hoax, but it was funny to see. @@chris7jakarta hahaha Chris, that's something... I have had customs aboard already "May we come aboard? What If I say no? Well, that would be suspicious already". They came to check for red and took samples. I have no idea what happened with those samples, after they left. Perhaps they were out of diesel and did not want to ask for some, so they used their authority ;-) They step into the engine room. Sir, What is this installation for? Well that's for my kitty cat. (I have 2800 liter to clean then...)

@@MVLadyLiselot haha yes it would be silly to have the filter on board and filter it on the spot. although you could camouflage the u shape pipesystem with 2 flowerpots in each end. fake flowers ofcourse. just for engine room decoration ;) But you would have to hide the red diesel as well, that would be more of a problem. Or you can buy it straight from the guy for 40p cheaper. unless he has a tank truck you need to fill a lot of jerry cans haha
