Makes me want to to bust mine out again and try them again. I settled on prodigy air spectrum drives (D2, D3, and D4s) last summer but those battle the fission photons and waves. Super close but I chose the prodigy drives ironically enough before I love the spectrum plastic

Cosmic is a great overstable option, it flies almost like Photon for most people. For me as a 400-450ft thrower, the Wave serves a more utilitarian role as it really wants to hold the turn to the ground. It's great for the rare max distance roller, but first and foremost, I use it for tailwind turnovers where the Trace would fade out too soon and faster discs would struggle to carry. Also gets plenty of use for hyzerflip forehands in the woods and the flat shoulder is very good for the forehand grip.

Awesome to hear the uses for the faster arms! Thank you for the info! 🙏

Just started bagging these this week, and they've been sooo nice! The sweet spot for me in light weights (talking 150s here) has been the cosmic neutron. I got a 172g DGLO neutron one, and it's super straight with a decent fade - but what surprised me was it's wind resistance. We were out at Indy Lake yesterday, and I threw it into a nearly 30mph constant headwind on the big, open holes on East, and it just had the slightest turn. I'd thought I'd need my Photon for that shot, but I was really pleased with the Wave. Definitely starting out my tournament season with those as my main distance drivers!

Sounds like I need to pick up a Cosmic! Love when you can get so many different lines just by switching up the plastic!

After watching this I picked up a 168g Fission Wave. I love it! For my arm speed it flips up to flat with a little fade at the end of a flat release. Easily my longest disc. My thrasher has more turn which is useful but the wave consistently out distanced it. I want a driver for the strong Texas headwinds we have here. I was wondering if a heavier Wave in a difficult plastic would be a bit more stable? Or would I be better off getting a Zenith or Photon. I’d appreciate Your thoughts!
@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf10 ай бұрын
For headwinds I’ve been trying a heavy Proton and it has been working very well as long as I keep it flat to slight hyzer. Haven’t gotten a chance to throw the Zenith or Photon, so sadly can’t compare 😔

I love the wave. The fission wave for turnovers. And the cosmic Neutron for overstable shots. My fission is 175g. The overmold allows the extra weight to be in the rim. I think that the cosmic Neutron plastic is more overstable than the proton. I use the proton for stable down the middle shots.

I’ll give the Cosmic a try!!! Thank you for the info!

Can someone that has thrown both max weight fission and proton wave enlighten me about their differences? Is the fission generally less stable in this instance?

I have both, they fly more or less the same.

What course were you playing for the “course usage” part at like 3:15-5 minutes? Didn’t recognize but looks fun.

I just updated the description with the courses filmed at, but mostly at NorthRidge in Michigan, Red Hawk East in Michigan and Airborn Hollows in MN.

I use the Jet in that slot. It’s the same mold just not the black rim.

Meaning no gyro technology. Meaning less rpm over the flight and less torque resistance.

I find the Jet very comparable as well and I use it as a replacement when the probability of losing discs is high. Maybe one thing about the Jet in Proton is that it has a bigger tendency to fade out if I miss my angles. But both discs are overall pretty sensitive due to being very understable for my arm speed.

I’m going to have to give the Jet a try!

@CheatingLeftyDiscGolf11 ай бұрын
I can see that happening. The unfortunate side effect of tossing semi understable discs.

These waves are so finnicky. The slightest breeze or variation in form and you get completely different shots. I have thrown the wave over 450' so it does bomb but it is terrible if you want consistent scores. If you have any power what so ever then stay away from the wave.
