MVSX v2, with its screw-in buttons and louder speakers, the SNK MVSX performs pretty damn nicely!
The stereo speakers sound great, the bass is all there and is loud enough.
Provided we do a couple of tweaks here and there, this is a great cab.

This is great at regular price! People forget that this comes with 50 games. Not 12 or 3 like most arcade 1ups. And if you add the HyloX hack it’s even better.

At the lower pricing this is a great deal. Plus it can be hacked with the Hylo Hack to add games. I do like that the back is black unlike the cardboard that arcade1up uses. The sticks are not that great but with the tweaks you made to the gate then it will be better.

I can't find the "file" in question anywhere. It was scrubbed from everywhere it was listed a few days before mine came in. I have it in the breakroom at work and honestly the title list is kinda lacking. The main reason I got it was for the add on games. I have a 1up packman next to it and most people who end up waiting around in my office for whatever reason end up playing that. I know KZbin/Google can be a bit protective when it comes to posting links and what not, but if you could just give me a hint in the right direction I sure would appreciate it. I need something to hold me over until my fixed piezo fixed light gun Pandora kit comes in.

They didn't have to. - Heck, the official SNK releases on Steam of Metal Slug 2 had no slowdown.. An option to choose "original" or "core boost" would have been very welcome.

It's a very nice looking piece for sure. I just can't stand the fact that the control deck has no room for someone's wrist to rest on. The sticks and buttons are practically hanging off the deck. Another inch or two of depth would have done the deck justice imo. Still a great looking cab.

You can very easily add all the games it’s missing. I wish I knew about the sale as I’ve been thinking about buying one of these. Btw, I believe the $499 model comes with the base that makes it a full sized unit. However you still got a great price and saved $80!! It’s a beauty for sure. Edit: I see the prices have gone up. I stand corrected. This system is going for $499!! Sorry about that. I’m almost positive that when this first came out the unit I mentioned above was the 499. Can anyone confirm for me? Now it’s driving me crazy. ;)

They're totally different machines. It's unfair to compare them. Pi you can tinker to your hearts content, but you'd lose years in doing so. This has sticks, monitor ... An all in one unit. Apples and oranges, friend.

Metal Slug 2 slowdowns doesn't come from the MVSX. The slowdowns come from the original game, that's why they released the game again (with the first one) later (with some modifications) under the name Metal Slug X.

I understand what you say but I guess some other people would have complained that somes games would not be true to the original (to fix Metal Slug 2 slowdown, the cpu emualtion need to be overlocked but that would mean some other games would also have less slowdown).

Did you noticed damage on the plexiglas or dust/woodpieces between the cover of the display? I just got my 3. unit and each of them had the issue. One also had a red light bleeding in the left corner and dead pixels.

i found the hylostick mod and installed it on my cab but i realized none of the games had the actual rom installed in it - just the coverart. is there a way i can find it with the actual roms in it? havent had any luck :/

Could the hylostick hack potentially harm the system or cause future failure? I’m not computer savvy but I’ve always wanted a neo geo and want to get the most out of it.

It could, I guess- as it flashes a fake firmware update. If you're using a genuine and reliable memory stick to update, you should be fine though. - After the firmware has flashed (takes maybe 30 seconds) then you're good to either use it with the hylo (when the memory stick is plugged in), or use it as a stock system.

Legitimate question - why does it come with six action buttons per player? Outside of hacking, it only ever runs four button Neo Geo games. So why does it have a six button layout?

I think it's to cater for those with different layouts to the 4 in a line. We've had a viewer want a crazy layout set up as Spanish arcades had 2 top and 2 below, almost similar to tekken.

This. This is a dealbreaker for me. ALL MVS and AES units had the four button layout. A neo-geo machine with a SF control panel layout? It's like a shitty arcade conversion unit where the operator didn't bother to replace the control panel.

@@TeamPandory no base, but even so, I got stung by getting in early. Still, even at $700, I think it's well worth it. I play it every weekend now and modded it to take 100en for me and 10 en for my daughter to use.

@@dpc4548 Yes, they were expensive earlier on- that's why I waited. The base seems to be unavailable in Japan now- They were going for around 15000 or something - ridiculous for a wooden box. Very cool you modded it for 100yen though! Did you do any more mods to it or leave it at that? We may go back and make a few more videos for this box.

@@TeamPandory I put the Omega mod on to get all the Neo Geo games. I did put a Rspberry Pi 4 in there, but it didn't work well with the coin slots. The Neo Geo games are all specifically designed for coins on the same button, not so for other devices. Maybe I'll try again some time. I changed the buttons to be convex instead of concave, but the sticks feel great, so I left them as is. I also put some furniture risers under it to get better height.

I was amazed by this product and tempted to order one until I saw the part where you needed to tweak the joysticks. I have no knowledge nor skill to do the swap. It's too bad that for the price of this product the essential parts are not up to the standard.

The joysticks are based upon the US Neogeo cabinet HAPP sticks, which have the circle gate. It's a shame, as those corners are essential to King of Fighter games. That said, it's not too bad of a quick mod.

I would have gone bonkers seeing that round gate and that solder on the stick 🤣 🤣 🤣 in 2022 if you launch a product like this for this much money you wanna give your customers flexibility and easy swapping things. If it was like 300 dollars/euros I would have accepted this nonsense but it s 570 euros in Europe... like are you for real... I m pretty sure for most is an impulse buy ... I m really trying to stop producing too much junk buying things like this. I really hope someone will make a decent arcade replica ... 1up and these guys are just feeding on ppls nostalgia... just play emulators. And if you really want to start a moding project buy some tools and build your own. :)

@@xxcffff8275 if you think about the licensing, cab itself and quality of emulation, it's not actually too bad... But yeah, it is pretty pricey and really could've done with a square gate. Authentic MVS systems are still available so that's probably the way to go for the real arcade experience.

Yep. Using emulation we have work arounds to speed it up, and even the stream port is fixed of slowdown.

I haven't tried it- but apparently you can do it like this (shameless copy paste, sorry) : 1- Hold start button. Right - Left 5 times than press Low and High Punch for Iori. 2- Hold Start button Up - Down 5 times press low and High kick for Leona. 3- Hold Start button. Up Left Down Right Up down up and press high punch and low kick for Yashiro Team.
