funny thing is in 1982 that would be like seeing a early 70s C10 today

Honda made fun cars to drive, but Mazda really was the only Japanese carmaker which could make FWD cars that matched Europe’s best when it came to road manners.

My first car! Well, it was my parents' car and I got to drive it when I started driving. Surprisingly tough car even when driven by jerks. Had many friends that later bought new Mazdas because they said they saw how my older brother and I treated our GLC and it took it no problem. The 5 speed was so easy to use. The sedan was not very roomy but had a huge trunk.

If this car were solid beige with a beige vinyl interior,, it would be an exact twin of the 1982 Mazda GLC hatchback that I used to ride to Camp Forty Acres in Wilmington, MA. in back in the day!!!!!

My very first car! The engine seemed to rev forever, or 5000 rpm. 0-60 in "today".

Decent bottom end acceleration but seems to run out of pep at higher speeds, I'm glad to see them do the 500 ft run and the 1/4 mile on this video.

Does anyone else get the Mazda GLC and Mercedes GLC mixed up?

Mazda always gave you good looks at no extra cost. Well not always, the previous glc wasn’t nearly as tasteful looking.

I think this and the 81 Escort were basically the same car but the Ford had a softer suspension and a 4 speed instead of 5.

The '91-97 was the joint Ford/Mazda compact..

Also, if you listen to the seat belt reminder buzzer at 1:50, it's basically the same one used in the Escort from 1981-1986, just at a higher pitch.
