I reluctantly sold a property in regional Victoria that was so dear to my heart, it shared some of this vision and qualities of the wonderful property showcased here. The only consolation I have is to know that one day I can draw inspiration from homes like this and build a similar retreat somewhere special. Great story, thank you.

Stunning house. Love how it's all open and wherever you look you look at nature. And the black isn't overwhelming with all the light coming in from everywhere.

Absolutely perfect. No mention of mitigating cyclone damage. Oma came close last year.

Thats all good and well with it being open to nature but what do you do about the bugs and mozzies getting in and being attracted to lights and so on ..... if l want to eat my dinner with the mozzies l would just go camping.

Butterfly style roofs are terrible as they require constant maintenance to keep debris out of the gutter. Im in engineering and have seen a lot of failures ( collapses) due to poor maintenance. Why would you paint hallways black?...thats great for working with the light and the Australian heat!

I’d hazard a guess that the black is a homage to bushfire ravaged trees and true about the roof so this style of house in not for the lazy .

Everything old is new again. This home reminds me strongly of a beachcomber design that was popular during the 1960s and 1970s. It doesn’t remind me at all of camping. A direct line of sight from the front to the back of a home is considered poor feng shui because with nothing to slow or redirect it, chi will rush straight from the front door out the back. This allows the energy, which might bring luck or money, to leave your home without circulating and bestowing its benefits. I think it lacks imagination.

Not everyone cares about feng shui. To each their own. I’d love to have this place.

Its a beautiful house, but sustainable is not building your house number 2 in the middle of nature because you can afford it, it would have been more in contact with nature, not building more houses in the habitat of wildlife #greenwashing

Rubbish, you buy & put in gutter brushes get up there with long handled brush go for it.
