Why wasn’t the arcade machine fully restored? During the restoration, it was important to me that the football machine was not restored to 100% perfection. I didn’t want it to look as if it had just come out of the store brand new. You should be able to see that it has a history. For this reason, I didn’t renew the playing field or the players, but instead cleaned and refreshed them. I believe this highlights the long history of the machine. However, I restored and repaired the mechanical parts and the wooden components to make them functional again. This way, the arcade machine can be played just like in the old days.

I like it. It's an aesthetic and ethical decision for every restorer to make. I work in the field of cultural heritage conservation, and cleaning and stabilising objects is more important to us, usually, than full restoration.

I like it. I think it was the right decision. a "restoration" doesn't necessary mean repainting everything. I like it. Good job.

I think it was a terrible decision. That rust will continue to eat through that metal until it's too late to save it

The line between restoration and historical preservation is subjective. I personally like to see things returned to their former glory, with small scars but not so obvious, so there is the best chance chance another generation may appreciate and leave their own legacy and so on And as others have said, the untreated rust will only worsen

This makes no sense... Everything you have restored on your channel thus far has been old and beaten up and restored to perfection. Your other projects had a history too.

Why did you leave the players and pitch untouched? It's only partially restored without it. It made no sense as to why you painted the nets and penalty boxes.

@ultimatewitcherfan667717 күн бұрын
Ya know, I think you should have completely restored it. Leaving the playing field all rusty like that is a bad idea. That rust will eventually eat through the metal leaving you with no choice but to make a new one. The players/goalies need repainting too. I understand that you wanted to preserve the history this game has, but doing a complete, 100% restoration would extend the game’s life in the long run.

I would have loved to see this restored from top to bottom, as the parts you did do look so amazing. That being said, you were in charge and I respect the reason you gave for not doing it 100%. It's not my place to say if that was right or wrong, as I'm not the artist in this matter and therefore have no say. I can admire it as is, or if it was completely done, all I can do is enjoy what is placed in front of me and take it for what it is. Thanks for sharing your talents.

Leaving the field and the players old and crummy was not the best choice IMHO. It still would shown its age. This way it looks like the restorer got tired of it and slapped the half finished job together. Quite disappointing TBH.

people are shitting on this video but honestly I like the restoration. You chose to have the history of this machine show. you cleaned and polished the field but didn't bring it to brand new condition. To me this was extremely satisfying and watching it at the end definitely feels like it's a restored piece of history.

I like this one because it keeps some of the wear. Sometimes it isn't about making stuff like new, it's more about making it last. That patina is hard to get artificially. It really adds to the overall piece.

I cannot fathom the decision to restore everything else, but leave the play field in it's damaged and corroded condition. And nobody give me the "it gives it character" crap line. It doesn't give it character, it just makes it look like crap. As is, it just looks like a shitty, half-finished restoration. If that was the case, why powder coat everything else? Why re-paint the lines on the field? Why totally repaint the goal netting? Instead of restoring it for future generations to enjoy, the "character" you gave it now ensures that the playfield will just corrode away until ne needs to be completely replaced

Terrible restoration, not having repaired the court and the other metal parts of the sides, corrosion will continue to damage those parts, at least they should have repainted everything in green or put grass self-adhesive synthetic, doing all that to end up not repairing the most important part of the game, which is the court.

Polymethylmethacrylate shields (aka plexiglass screens) did not exist before 1938, so it is either fake or not from the 1920s. Also, a screen that old would have to be so opaque that you couldn't see through it.

I would imagine they had some material they could use for screen, and I would also imagine that the original shield was lost/broken at some point. Often things that last this long have been repaired multiple times.

Players and field should have been painted. Why everything is like new and shinny if wanted to keep it original. Original would have been minor work just to fix and add new parts missing but age them to fit old rusty parts. But the restoration was nice otherwise. Not sure about the fake chrome paint and powdercoating, but thats my opinion and preference.

I would have the kept the field and players as they were if they weren't in such bad shape. That much rust and overall deterioration is a bit much for my tastes. But everyone has their own preference.
