Hey there, a big THANK YOU for your help. I was facing knee deep trouble in installing MX Linux but your video made it child's play for me. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, even though I am putting this on a a five year old mid level computer with failing (sometimes freezing up and no fix for it save rebooting) Windows 8, nonetheless I was a tad intimidated. Now with this video I am feeling a lot better about going ahead with the installation. I am hoping to get a new machine with this install, and a faster and more stable one at that.

bonus points for showing the live-usb persistence setup. if you installed applications on the running live-usb with persistence, those will carry over to the installed system on any pc you run that live-usb on.

Great tutorial video, but must say the music needs to be a little softer. At times, it almost masked your voice and it was difficult to understand what you were saying. Maybe it was just me, but the volume was a tad too high. Thanks.

I'm stuck at 5:49 "and, lets go ahead and boot into this release" Huh?? my screen did not change from that setup screen to a desktop screen. What am I missing? I'm still stuck on the setup.

I'm watching this while trying out MX Linux, I think I'm going to at the least have it to dual boot with Mint but if it's faster on my ancient laptop I might just go with it. I really like it so far.

Curios how much longer he installation might have taken on a typical HD (rather than for an SSD). And what was your download speed (more or less) for this installation?

You're welcome! I'm glad I was able to figure out how to do it - it wasn't easy but ended up being that I just needed to find a Linux-compatible screen recorder, and they do exist apparently. :)

I changed from Mint to MX. I am no expert, but have the feeling, it is running faster. Especial on my old Netbooks.

Good tutorial, thanks. I am stuck in the beginning (it crashes after pressing intro in the default line, "customize boot"). Looks like it only works if I go to "Advanced Options" and then go thtough a CLI install. I could do that, but am not so comfortable. Any hints? Thanks

@@dystopia2386 After 13 years in hot and muggy subtropical Puerto Vallarta global climate warming has finally arrived. First time ever I have seen it above 34ºC. And late this summer broke all records with 40ºC. Try that with 75-80 percent humidity. I am not too much into solar minimum cooling, but a big fan of the big freeze from warming induced glacial fresh water shutting down the AMOC and bringing frigid conditions to Europe. Yeah, adverse times are here, that is they have begun. As the Chinese mixed blessing has it, "May you live in interesting times."

Hey....., that was cool, what did I do wrong..? I have Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop, dual-boot Windows 7 & Linux Ubutun-Mate'. I was having problems so I deleted the ubuntu-root partition and Downloaded MX-19 Linux. Using Etcher I made the live drive on a 32 gb Scandisk USB drive. Inserted liveMX, rebooted pc. Checked operation in Live mode, it was good, then I installed. I basically did what you did w/all the text questions, it completed and I rebooted again. Bios came up I selected Mx-19 Linux... it also showed my Windows 7. All of apps are showing DEMO...?

Peppermint is streets ahead of Mx Linux. More friendly in installation and use, and a user-interface comfortably close to that of Windows. I upgraded three old Pentium 4/Windows 7 machines, and am very pleased.

It's a LTS version or not?
@LearnLinuxTV5 жыл бұрын
Debian doesn't do separate LTS versions, each of their releases are supported for quite a while. MX builds on top of Debian, so you could argue that they are close to LTS since they are built on Debian, though I don't know if MX considers themselves LTS.

How old are we talking? If you have some issues with defective RAM (but not so bad that it causes most things to fail) that could be an issue. If you're talking about Pentium-era computers, I agree.
