MX5 Turbo MK2 Escort Project - Episode 1

This is my MK2 Escort, running 1.8 MX5 Engine, with added turbo good ness. Group 4 spec shell. Fully stripped, caged, plexiglass windows. Animal!

tip for you when you do exhaust wrap next time. soak the wrap it will be easier to fit and it will tighten up a lot better 👍🏻 just leave it dry out before taking the car for a spin though 👍🏻

That wrap is really thick fibreglass which is difficult to fit. DEI Titanium wrap is a lot easier to work with and is best product you can find (the price reflects this haha) I would have done this to my dump pipe with DEI wrap but with E85 it doesn't get crazy hot. And my system is 3" mild steel, living in a humid climate the wrap will rust it in no time at all. Yours appears to be stainless??

Alright Andrew, mate stop putting yourself down I would let you work on my car anytime. I'm loving the vids and the progress on both cars. Do you have an idea of what Bhp the Mazda lump will be putting out? It's a really good sounding engine, I'm so used to seeing Pinto or the ultimate Millington lumps in Mk 2s it's cool to see a Mazda turbo installed. Take care mate. Ralph

Thank you mate, when I turbo'd an mx5 with pretty much same setup but with smaller injectors it made 250hp. So around that. Anymore will need upgraded internals anyways. I'd love a Milly in the white one but waaaay out of my price range

@@rtwltd768 Alright mate, 250 Bhp is a totally respectable figure in a Mk 2, she must pull really well 👍. I know the Milly is the ultimate lump but the price is unachievable for most of us lol, nice if you can afford it but not in my price range either. I love the stance on the beige beast as well, I'd love to own a Mk 2 but I can't see it happening to be honest they get such good money now, and to be fair they're worth it too. Take care mate 👍👍👍👍🏁

@@rtwltd768 Well I live in hope lol, I learnt to drive and did my test in 1989 in an immaculate white Mk2 1300 L. I wanted to get a Mk2 then but happened upon a Capri 1600 GL and by the time I thought about getting a Mk2 again they were like rocking horse shit to get hold off or crazy money. If I win the lottery I will be knocking on your door lol. 👍👍👍👍🏁

@@rtwltd768 no, its made by old Ford autos. Similar idea, just has proper rear lights instead of the trailer board lights on the rsr. Lol.

RTW LTD cool, I’ve got a megasquirt running the Toyota in mine. I’ve seen some mx5 turbo kits online that come with a megasquirt plug and play Ecu also. Cool idea though got me thinking about another build!
