What do you know about speaker design? I'm still trying to understand speakers. Cross-overs, wiring either serial or parallel wired speakers, the pros and cons. Also vented boxes or ported boxes (bass reflex). How do you tune a speaker or how does one design a speaker enclosure for correct breathing? My long term goal is to build a speaker cabinet to accommodate at 18" or a 15" speakers. Moreover to accommodate another two more speakers. A three way speaker with tweeters, mid-range and bass or sub bass drivers. I dont know what is financially feasible right now. 4ohm or 8ohm speakers and or power amplifier. I'm still doing the research on my dream stereo system. Right now I'm thinking a turntable, a pre-amplifier, power amplifier and two big speaker's with three speakers in each box.

Before to get down to speakers you need to know which amp you want classA single ended or push pull, vacuum tubes or transistors or MOSFETs classAB, classD and so one because then you can find the speakers that match good the amp you have!

@@SymbolTech21 I think Class A is going to be too expensive. I assume there is a lot of filtering to reduce noise and distortion on an amp of that class (pre-amplifier). I think maybe Class A/B whatever that means. I'm not that into valve amps although they probably have a good sound. I think I stick with solid state. I'm not sure about whether to use MOSFETS or transistors because I don't know the pros and cons of both? Hmm this asks more questions than answers. 🤔

@@decem_unosquattro9538 yes because you need to see which speakers you want to use, with high sensitivity or low sensitivity etc there is lots of things to take in consideration

JCB: Very good description of your assembly and tests - did you check the THD as a function of the bias current ?

I don't have yet a sound card to do these tests. but slowly slowly I am trying to get the budged for a sound card and then my videos will be more interesting because I will do also those tests to my projects.

According to tests I made it's almost flat from 20hz to 22khz

I suggest you to measure all the components before soldering to make sure that are the right value and specs

@@SymbolTech21 I bought a soldered MX50SE amp and when it's running the heatsink is really cold, maybe it's running in class B and I want to convert it to class AB for better sound. I'm not great at setting the current, can I just replace the 1K and 10K resistors with 30% or 50% less resistance by matching a pair with a multimeter?

@@SymbolTech21 Yes as my first amplifier I'd like to attempt something relatively simple and cheap before I tackle something a lot more powerful. I don't quite understand what this amp is? ( MX 50 SE) Is it a pre-amplifier and power amp in one or what they call an integrated amp ? 🤔
