I have a mxl990 myself. I can hear in this video the same problem I have with mine. The vocals sound slightly sharper in a bad way. They actually make me cringe just a little when I hear certain parts even. My mxl 990 has the same issue. I don't hear that as much from your other mic.

really wish you could have stayed in the same frequency range between the two mics comparison you jumped up to the 4 and 5 on the neumann and stayed on the 1 within the key on the mxl this really isn't a comparison unless you are purposely trying to make the neumann sound like it has more presence and top end.

I have a u81 and a 990 special edition with some retarded white paint job and blue led in it and im needing to sell the neumann for some cash just wanted to see if i can get by with the mxl and if the 3500 dollar difference really means that much to me.

There really is just slight tonality differences and the noise floor is every so slightly different, but not enough to matter when you're recording singing and not wildlife or ambience.

same color but neumann has 50% more of details, especially at frequencies around 1k-2k and 10-12k

What do you mean by that? If you're hearing something on one mic that you aren't hearing on the other you'd just boost those frequencies to the same level. It's being recorded, just at a different level.

Si bien noto diferencias no me parece que justifique la diferencia de valor del Neumann, creo que con cualquiera de los dos mics se puede hacer una excelente canción! 👌

the difference in the high frequencies is definitely noticeable, the Neumann is softer while the MXL is more artificial, even tiring
