That intro never gets old. Even my Dad likes this song. He heard me listening to MXPX and he was like, wait, take that song back to the start again.

Classic! Mxpx was one of the first punk bands I listened too. We used to go to their shows all the time. When my brother got married in the early 2000's he asked Mike record their wedding song. He sang a couple accoustic versions and sent my brother a CD. His wedding song and first dance was to "Do your feet hurt" solo accoustic made just for them!! No freaking shit! I still wear an mxpx shirt I had from the 90s that fortunately got lost for a few years so it looks pretty good still. Anyway, mxpx always fun and brings back memories!!! Thanks Mike and friends

I remember back in the day I had just bought an MXPX CD as well as one by Reel Big Fish and popped them into my 3 cd machine! Well a song by Reel Big Fish was playing and my dad walked by right when they sang the word "Beer"... My dad is (still) a complete tea-totaler and flipped out. Opened the cd player and grabbed what he thought was the offending cd.... unfortunately it turned out to be the MXPX CD as he broke it in half and threw it in the garbage 😭😭 Needless to say I was pretty bummed out over that and still remember this as if it were yesterday 2 decades later.

Weird how you guys basically minimize/eliminate the signature bass riff that makes this song. I think it’s an improvement in a way because the original song was somewhat monotonous but this version sounds almost like a different song entirely.
@chrislefler35543 жыл бұрын
Huh? He played the bass line.
@JazGalaxy3 жыл бұрын
He plays it ocassuonaly. He greatly expanded the bass composition from its original form. Then they added another guitar part. So the signature bass riff that was repeated over and over in the original is now just an occasional part of the song. It basically sounds like a new song.
@chrislefler35543 жыл бұрын
@@JazGalaxy you need to go back and listen to the song as it was recorded on Life in General (and the earlier recording that is found on Let It Happen). The signature bass line that you're talking about has only ever been played before and during the verses, as well as during the section where he does the scat singing. The way they played it here is very close to the way it is on the record, with only the occasional embellishment added. There's no new guitar part, either, as Chris is pretty much just doubling Tom's part when he's playing on this song. (The record even has doubled guitars, as most records do.)
