Nice demo as always, guys. I thought I'd point out you can get around some of the scoop of the color switch eq by cranking the midrange. If you don't, 800hz in your signal basically looks like the Grand Canyon. I got this from killer Japanese bassist Ikuo about a decade ago. I use the DI+ every day. I have four of them but still rely mostly on the first one I bought in the early 00s. A real working class hero for bass.

A very interesting feature of this pedal is that it can be phantom powered through its Direct Output XLR from a phantom powercapable mixing console by pressing down the phantom switch of the MXR. The XLR cable send the signal to the mixing console while powering the pedal. I did it during rehearsals and it's great. PS : the trigger knob works very well.

Love my M80. I pair it with a M108 as my "final tone shaper section" right before going to the amp. One issue I have encountered with it, though, is how the XLR output seems much weaker than other DI's I've used in the past, ALMOST as if there was a built-in -20db pad in it which can't be switched out. That weakness requires the mixing board preamp to make up for it, which kind of defeats the purpose, this being marketed as a preamp / DI combo :P

Does the parallel output actually "split" the signal, i.e. reduce the strength of it? For instance a basic switcher that isn't buffered you are actually reducing the strength of the signal where as a buffered switch does not lose strength.

Hello, I have a question, when using a preamp pedal the EQ of the amp must be flat, right? thank you
@HandOfDoom9349 Жыл бұрын
The amp doesn't have to be flat, you can EQ however you like. It's hard to tell where 'flat' is on an amp anyway, it isn't necessarily all knobs at 12, unless there's a graphic EQ. Personally I use preamp pedals in the effects loop of an amp, bypassing the power amp stage and using the preamp only so all the tonevand EQ is coming from the pedal.

@TomMarello4 жыл бұрын
I have both on my pedalboard, with Battalion stacked first. I prefer Battalions drive sound and pre/post/dry settings more than that of M80. However, color button on M80 gives a great 'body' to the overall sound but maybe too mid-scooped for my taste, so I use Battalion's two mid knobs to compensate that huge frequency drop. Sometimes I engage both their drives in series to obtain serious grit. Batalion is closer to Darkglass sound, while M80 is more similar to SansAmp - I prefer having both options at foot diaposal.
