I already have a wampler plexi drive deluxe, but god damn that pedal artwork with the sound to match. This is the only mxr distortion that I’ve ever wanted/craved
@vertebralremains3795 жыл бұрын
Are you happy with the plexi drive? I liked the internal battery feature but I could not get very good tones out of the one I tried. I ended up with a tone city golden plexi and it does a thing. I'd trade all my drives and distortions in for this dookie pedal though lol
@iann87335 жыл бұрын
Vertebral Remains I am happy with the wampler plexi drive deluxe. I like old school Marshall distortion tones, so the plexi drive gets me there even when going into a clean channel. The dookie drive I would get only for a bit more of a “modern” sound. I am slowly building a physical pedalboard (I am sick of fighting with modelers). So far I have these pedals: Dunlop 95Q Digitech Whammy V Wampler plexi drive deluxe Bluguitar amp1 Pedals I want now include: Mxr dookie drive Boss sy-1

I've grown tired of distortion type pedals over the years and I've got more sitting in boxes in the closet than you can shake a stick at, but I really like the sound of this pedal. It's got a lot of good Marshally tones and riminds me of my old Carl Martin Plexitone and Radial Tonebone Plexitube pedals.

Great playing and demo. Had to hit this video just to agree with you. I almost wish there was no Green Day logo on the pedal so people wouldn't judge and skip it. What an amazing drive pedal for under $200.
@JoeJulianoMusic5 жыл бұрын
Jared Burdick hey thanks a lot! Yeah people are really quick to judge this pedal without really listening because of the Dookie association. I just think it sounds like a good Marshall in a box. It’s very useful
@bagenius59703 жыл бұрын
That's what makes it exclusive. If people see the logo and skip it, tough for them. More for the Green Day fans and people who are willing to try it out. I got myself one the other day and I love it, not just because I'm a huge Green Day fan, but also because just like Billie Joe, I've been looking for that just raw rock tone and this pedal is pretty much what I've been wanting. Normally when I play my guitar, I just kind of stand there but with this pedal, I can't help but to get into whatever it is that I'm playing.

What this pedal, and its brother (FOD pedal), need is an expression-pedal slot so we can use the 'blend' mode using an expression pedal. I would definitely use the far left side for my rhythm parts, and for the solos, I'd use the far right side of the blend.

Did you run the pedal through the input of the amp? How would you go about running it into say a jcm 800 2203? Ive been told fx loop in?
@JoeJulianoMusic5 жыл бұрын
Adam Parkin I ran it in front of the amp. I haven’t tried putting it through the fx loop yet. I guess if you wanted to use it as more of a preamp you could do that. I bet it would still sound pretty good. I will say I think it sounds best on a clean channel, I didn’t love it on a dirty channel
@PARK1N_855 жыл бұрын
Joe Juliano awesome, in front of the amp seems to be the popular choice. It will be running into a jcm 800
@JoeJulianoMusic5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I figured it’s the most common way people would theoretically use the pedal. I haven’t played through a JCM 800 but I’d say if it takes other pedals well it should be good. When I tested the pedal it sounded best on clean to edge of breakup but not as good on an already overdriven channel
@rockstarr90005 жыл бұрын

So the dookie pedal is just a Marshall in a box pedal?
@JoeJulianoMusic5 жыл бұрын
Santiago Vasquez basically yes but with the added bonus that it’s based off of two Marshalls and you can blend the two of them. Or just use one or the other. It’s all controlled via the “blend” knob
@Hehehehhehehehehehehehhe785 жыл бұрын
@@JoeJulianoMusic so would it be reasonable to buy this when i already have a plexi?

@kylebrady9692 жыл бұрын
Not a bad recreation of the album tone; missing a bit of the snarl, but Dookie was recorded in 1994 so perfectly capturing it is kinda pointless. I took a listen to the guitar master tracks for Basket Case and, at least to me, it sounds like quad-tracking with the mid-heavy guitars hard panned and the scooped guitars more towards the middle (still panned, but not as much.) In order to get the different feels in songs and parts it sounds like Rob Cavallo would just mix the levels on each track as needed.
